Bored...funny forum thread
2003-08-24 04:05:43
I have now watched the same episode from 'Buffy' - the series more than 40 times in a row. ~_~ And I don't like the show. There's something really wrong with that, but for some reason hearing the audio keeps a nice 'fuzz' while I'm working. I actually tried to switch episodes (I promised my sister-in-law to watch the second season) but I got distracted. I think there was more fighting in that episode or something...I turned it back after two minutes. So here goes, I just reset it again...
Yeah, I'm bored. I surfed the forum - lots of funny threads around here. One of my favorites is this one:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=19827
It just amazes me that people are actually taking the story seriously. I mean, how gullible do you have to be to believe that? I could do a much more convincing rendition of 'oh, I'm a repressed female with abusive men hovering around me, please let me break the rules, don't you see that I have to break them or I'll be punished by the master my father has named for me, oh, why don't you get it, I just cannot follow the rule, it isn't my choice, you see he gets so angry at every little thing I do, and this is the identification he has put on me, it's my dog tags you see, if I were to remove them I would be pounced upon by men and then be punished for removing my master's brand from my forehead, so please just let me break the rules, I'm a victim.'
Yeah, I'm rolling on the floor here watching people reply to this asking why she puts up with it. I've seen better from 6 year olds trying to avoid having to give up a favorite toy (even if said toy is a cardboard box). It's just wrong how much entertainment I get out of that thread.

Angel Sanctuary
2003-08-23 05:03:39
My cold's finally clearing up - and I managed to suffer through it without doping myself with cough syrup. My plan was to finish this round of ops and then work on an RK vid (featuring Yumi and Shishio), but I've decided to put it off a while longer. I have the vid mapped out for a song that seems to fit Yumi (though it's much more upbeat than the anime), but I'm going to hold out and keep looking for something else, just in case - I definitely won't be doing two tributes to her, so I have to get the song right the first time. In the meanwhile, I'm looking at my sources and thinking - quality, quality...I want a pretty vid.
Yeah, AS comes to mind. Of course, I honestly don't like the incest relationship, but I'm quite confident that it won't affect the vid any. And the song choice is an odd one for this anime, definitely a twist on the normal depressing type vid I imagine comes from this footage. I'll give it a try.

cats...
2003-08-20 01:02:40
I'm sick. My sister came over two days ago with the kitten (the one I cat-sat for a few weeks a while back) because he'd been hit by a car. But he was friendly enough, just a little sore. She walked right into my apartment before I was all the way awake - and by then it was far too late.
Of course I had to hold him - he remembered me. ~_~ I sneezed a lot that night, was all clogged the next morning, and then I just felt a little lightheaded, nothing too bad. But now it's definite. I'm sick. >.< I think I have a fever, or at least a high temperature, and it's just stupid. People sneeze and have runny noses because they're allergic to cats - they don't get full-blown sicknesses. I'd think it was hayfever or something, but I haven't been outside since then. It's the cat...
My head feels nasty, my throat is very sore and scratchy, and my sinuses are dying on me, not that they're usually healthy, but still. I'm going to have to pull out my cold medicine now...and just when I got off my pain medication. Life sucks...and it's all that darling adorably sweek cat's fault. ~_~

Whee!

I can do drama! Yes, it's true. ^_^ After a mess of actiony vids lately, I wanted to do something slower, maybe even an emotional vid like Braveliver was looking for in his op exchange. But what to do...when almost all my sources are shonen ai in nature...
Heh, I mixed 'em up, threw in my favorite girls (who, mostly end up dying), tossed in the dramatic (and tragic, if you ask me) scenes from some of my favorite pairings, and even added a few pics that I've held in my galleries. The result - as per usual with my multi-anime vids at least 85% of the scenes have never been used before (except by me, of course), and even the ones that have are rare.
How many FF8 vids focus on Raine? I mean, she has to be one of the most neglected game characters I know of - and of course she's one of my favorites (probably because I like Laguna so much). And then there's Rose. I really should put a note of thanks in the vid description for those wonderful guys on the 'Video help' forum who told me about PsxMC so I could rip footage from Legend of Dragoon. I've seen a few vids that use the scenes with her, but she's *never* been included in a romantic drama vid. It's just wrong how people don't seem to like her. How can you not feel sorry for her? I mean, The Black Monster, 10,000 years thinking Zieg is dead only to have him show up as the bad guy, and then she sacrifices herself - all the while having been a very good friend to the others. But no one cares - they're all focused on the action and that stupid Shana. I just can't stomach the weak whiny females.
And then there's Ryoko. I *know* there are Ryoko vids out there, a number of them being romantic, but I've never seen her included in a general romance vid. Why? Because people don't seem to think of her like they do the tragic characters. But she nearly dies, she's unappreciated, she's selfless when it comes to Tenchi - she's a tragic character, that's all there is to it.
And finally we have Eagle - one of my all-time favorite characters. I wish I had the final dvd for Rayearth, but I'm afraid the vid would have been *very* sad if I'd included those scenes. I can't stand to watch them on the tape I have. If I ever get around to buying a real vcr and a captur card I may have to use some of my tapes, but right now I'm sticking with dvds, so I had to throw in some pics to show Eagle's story.
There's his history with Lantis, who leaves him to go back to Cephiro and fall in love with Hikaru. But I love Hikaru, too, so I'm torn. But then she meets Eagle and they both love each other too! It's the perfect threesome. I've *never* seen another grouping like this one, she loves them both, they love each other, and they both love her. It's idealistic. Until they freaking kill him off. Anime sucks sometimes... ~_~
But I can't forget Geo - he's selfless when it comes to Eagle, and somehow that just makes it even worse. He's appreciated since Eagle cares about all of his friends, but it's awful to watch Geo's face when Lantis is mentioned. I just feel so bad for him. So he's included quite a bit in the vid.
Otherwise I have a flash pairing from Nadesico - finally I have a use for that stupid dvd since I hate to watch it. ~_~ I was expecting much better from the case, but the charcter shots were pretty, so they'll do here. And of course I needed lyric sync, so what better way to do it than to combine my two shonen ai anime - Earthian and Yami no Matsuei? I even got to use Miraki in a non-psychotic role. ^_^ That *has* to be original.
Formatting was a bitch for this vid, and I'm about sick of the little bugs. I *still* don't know why VirtualDub kept freezing on clip 7062, but it was consistent. And I even redid my source trying to get around it - same damn error. So it's divx this time - another new production format that I know nothing about. And may I say, the guide for compressing with Nandub is virutally nothing - it said *nothing*. I mean it. So...I have a few little blocks in the first picture scenes. I think it has to do with the fact that wmm wouldn't let me use the pictures themselves. Don't ask me what the problem is, but it wouldn't. So I had to use them in Showbiz, produce them in Hufyuv as a movie file, and then take clips of the still pictures to use in my wmm timeline. An extra level of compression compared to most of my sources, but I didn't have any problem like that with my game footage, and it went through hell!
I used PsxMC to get it just fine, compressed the footage in Hufyuv (I was running *very* low on space with this vid, I can tell you...). But I couldn't edit the avi file in VirtualDub - something really screwy was going on with the frame speed being 15. So I ran the clips through Showbiz, produced to Hufyuv again, and then edited *that* in VirtualDub. ^_^ I'm very happy now that I know how to edit the clips and resize them. I've *never* seen game footage included in a multi-anime vid that was trimmed so all the scenes were the same size.
The only scene in my entire vid that isn't full size is one of my pics, and that was just because it wasn't as high quality as the others, so I couldn't risk stretching it. ^_^;; I can't wait till I start on my dj vid again. Now that I know how to work with pictures, it should be great to make *official* yaoi vids for the 'non-yaoi' anime titles. I mean, you can do a pretend shonen ai with Rurouni Kenshin, but if I use my non-explicit doujinshi pics it'll look wonderful. There's a world of difference when you can back up the lyrics with shots of them actually together in a romantic way. And some of the dj pics I've selected have wonderful art to them - a few look just like the real thing.
I was half tempted to revert back to my old format with this new vid. I could have easily taken the wmv clips (7 wmv files this time) into windows movie maker 1.0 and produced the timeline (with audio intact) to NTSC avi - and then converted it with my old mpg converter. But...I went to a lot of trouble to trim the clips. Each scene from the game footage took hours. There was no way in hell I was going to waste all that effort by tossing the footage into that lousy converter and having it stretched and blurry. No way.
Of course, that means I have a codec people may not have, and the file size is about 20mbs larger than the mpg would have been. But the quality! Ah...I'm really loving this divx/xvid formatting. I have *never* seen game footage look so good, and I've seen a lot of game vids. I just wish Vdub hadn't screwed my pics...it was a lot of trouble editing them to fit the fullscreen without being stretched - and wmm wouldn't preview my timeline so I had to produce trial vids just to get the timing down. And all of that screwed because of a few little blocks toward the bottom of the screen. Ignorance really sucks. >.<
I'm just very happy with this vid. I wish India were here so I could share it with her - I *know* she'd love it. As it is, how many people enjoy sad romance vids with characters people don't use very often? But I think the vid is damn good. ^_^;; Heh, I'm biased since most are my favorite characters. But I did try to do lyric sync that was blatant - so there shouldn't be the problem I had with my 'Fallen' vid - you don't need to have seen the anime (or played the games) in order to follow this vid. But I don't know how thick the emotional response will be if you don't care about the characters... I may just go try out the op exchange. ^_^; My opinion of this video is way too biased to know if it's any good or not - and the fact that I'm in love with it tells me it's probably crap in other people's eyes. And this time, I'd like to know if that's true or not. It'll give me warning for my future projects.
Yes, I do believe it's time to get back to reviewing and exchanging - I want to experiment, and you can't experiment properly without having a test audience to try the results out on. Whether people hate it won't hurt my feelings or anything, but it's something I need to know before I try modeling emotional vids in the future. ^_^

demons
2003-07-28 01:37:47
Yeah, the usual. I only write in here when I don't have anything better to do. Actually, I do have things to do, I'm just taking a break. No more vids for a while, not from me. The general response was half-and-half for the last one, but I don't mind. I just don't know what I want to do about it. The best thing would be to stick to a song that has very obvious meaning - like a humor vid, where people won't have to know the anime used to understand the importance of the scenes. >.< But my sense of humor is very different from the general, so that probably won't work. And I don't like literal lyric sync as much. I'm also torn as to whether I want to do another hard core action vid. ^_^ I really want to try an RK/YYH vid, and I have the song picked out as well as most of the clips already taken (from my romance rk/yyh vid - the one I tossed aside for lack of proper editing equipment). And the song is more over-used than the last one, so that'll get me grief.
But I think I could do a very fun vid for Disturbed's 'Prayer' - just the thought of seeing Hiei or Kenshin in some cool slow scene for the 'this is the way I pray' rings true in my mind. And I can always use Kurama and Sano as the 'you,' especially since Kurama is always getting slashed up - meaning he doesn't know how to 'pray' the right way, where living doesn't matter. And then I have the 'little Sano' scenes that would be perfect. But a YYH footage doesn't have that pretty glossy look that RK has, so the scenes won't mesh very well. >.< It's the same problem as I had with my other crossover of the two, though that one was more similar since it featured mostly Kurama and Kenshin, with their Youko and Battousai natures. That's another spin I could use for this vid idea. I just really want to have it focus on Hiei more than Kurama, and Kenshin is a must, since I can see the battousai 'praying' like that.
Ah! The idea will drive me insane until I sit down and map out the vid. And then I'll be tormented until I get the footage, and so on until I'm right back where I was with the last one - chased by demons until I spend every waking moment in front of my poor struggling computer. Heh, I'm really surprised it hasn't died yet. >.> I can't remember the last time I turned it off for more than a minute to reboot. That can't be good...
'Burn me alive inside
living my life's not hard enough
take everything away...'
Yeah, that's Hiei. That is *so* Hiei... Of course, Rose Thorne is the one who pointed me to the song, so of course it was intended to be a Hiei vid to start with. But I want to toss RK in there. I guess I could try just a YYH vid, but I've done that...quite a bit. Ah, I don't know. This song must be used for a Hiei vid, it's just a matter of who else is in it. And whether I can find enough Hiei footage to fill the fast sections. o.o That's a major issue, and that's why I thought of mixing Kenshin in there. Kurama's fights just aren't fast enough, and they're generally pathetic compared to Kenshin's killer moves. Even as a youko, Kurama's likely to just stand there and let the plants do the work. I need frenzy, rush, blood lust, mindless rage and then blank careless expression in the aftermath. That is what this song calls for. And that is Hiei, *and* Kenshin. Yeah...the demons are tormenting me already...
'This is the way I pray...
living just isn't hard enough'
Damn...I am so going to ruin my vacation. ~_~ I don't think I'm capable of going for a week without working on *something* - even if it's just a small project. But this song is killing me...I can imagine the scenes that match the guitar rushes...so well. I can practically see the scene changes, and the movement, and the lyric sync. Yeah, I need to turn this song off, it'll drive me nuts. ^_^; Back to ops.
