Yeah, the video is up. It's called 'Denial' and is about 40mbs as an mpg. Now I just have to figure out what sort of screencaps to nab from it so I can list it on my website for the K/H fans. ^_^;; Screencaps of doujinshi scans? Heh...
Future vids! I'll be reviewing this weekend, but I *did* get my new anime while I was working on this monster. Future vids *will* include one for each of the following stories/anime:
Sailormoon S - a video featuring the Uranus/Neptune pairing - shoujo ai or girl/girl romance for the uninformed, and possibly a dance vid with a bit of the other scouts mixed in
I'll/CKBC - a shonen ai or 'close friends/enemies' type vid featuring the main two characters
Wolf's Rain - a shonen ai video either for the Tsume/Kiba pairing or a profile of Kiba looking at his relationship with Tsume and the redhaired boy (can't remember his name) as if it were a 3 way relationship
I have a few songs in mind for Wolf's Rain, and a definite match for the Sailormoon vid. I'm just stuck on what sort of song to use for I'll/CKBC - I keep thinking of Linkin Park songs. >.<

It's done. The only thing left is how to clean up the scans without losing the sharp backgrounds in the anime frames. I'll probably do a 'lesser of two evils' for the org and go with the scans since the rough backgrounds only appeal to me anyway (Ari likes glittery colors ;p ).
So that's it, my longest held vid. I think I'll sleep for the rest of the week once it's uploaded. I could use some long undisturbed sleep...starting after work tomorrow. >.>

photo book amv...?
2004-02-29 16:58:26
I have sudden respect for people who do frame-by-frame editing. While I'm sure it's easier in Premiere, the tediousness remains the same (I *think*) - the actual editing of the frames. Of cousre, I'm not doing any actual animation yet - I'm just working with PhotoImpression (another part of the ArcSoft package that ShowBiz comes with). It isn't difficult, but so tedious...
What really gets me is how different it is when you're editing with a non-animated source. I asked on the forum months back whether it was allowable to use dj scans in an amv, and was told it was. So that's my source at the moment (there will be anime as well, but that part will be easier). Trying to tell as story when the sources have no motion whatsoever is simply odd. And having to redraw every clip (to eliminate the text, symbols and comic style multi-pics in the doujinshi scans I'm using) is almost annoying. I'm very glad that I've done this in the past for my website - it gives me some sort of experience with redrawing black and white sources. Of course - I don't want the vid to *be* black and white, so I'm using PhotoImpression to give backdrops, but it still depends on how well I can redraw the sources and fit them to the size necessary. So far, I'm very pleased with myself. ^_^ I can't wait to get to the anime section.
One thing I've noticed is that with still shots, everything depends on the expression. Telling a story with dj pics really isn't easy - I'm taking things out of context (by necessity) and the different art styles worry me somewhat. For instance, the manga for 'Two Shots' has a very blocky format, not very pretty, while the djs that refer to that part of the manga are drawn as lovely as the anime flashbacks. I want to merge manga and djs as much as possible, but I feel a little guilty when the djs are drawn so much better than the official art. It's like I'm dissing the anime artists. ^_^;;
Arina Toshimi is, of course, getting the most visibility here. Her depiction of Hiei is almost identical to the anime (not the blocky manga style, but the pretty anime look he has toward the end of the series). And Kurama is downright 'dark' - very similar to the Sensui arc, and of course, the Makai arc. I'm saving some of Towa's for the chorus, but I worry about how her version of Hiei will look next to Arina's. My hope is that viewers take it to be a younger version of him (since I'm using those almost 'shota' shots to stand for his pre-Ningenkai years, between getting the jagan and coming to the human world. He does look like he would be a young teenager in those djs, so technically it's fine. The problem is that those who know the djs will wonder at the significance. Then again, I doubt many viewers will recognize even half the sources for this vid - and those that do will be so happy to see an amv mixing djs, official art, and manga with the animation, that I doubt they'll complain. They're the ones like myself - who don't understand why no one has done it before.
After all, djs are what spread fandoms based around non-canon pairings. And since they are sold and copywrited per the artists, they are as 'official' as the manga - only known to be different from the original creators' intent with regards to the anime and characters. If it weren't allowed on the site, I might understand. But since I made that thread (back in the OT days), I know that they're fine (AD posted on that thread - and I knew he was an admin even then). So why haven't people used them? Is it just the shonen ai fans who would need to go to outside sources for material? Should I pass it off as a result of there not being enough shonen ai vid makers to explore the inclusion of dj scans in an amv?
Probably. Regardless, I'm finally getting to do what I've wanted to do since I started - make a real yaoi video for a non-yaoi anime. Oh, I wouldn't do anything more explicite than a few embraces (I prefer emotions in visual 'stories'), but it's still more than I could ever accomplish using the anime alone. And it's so detailed. ^_^ I feel like I've just ventured into editing, all over again. I'm completely out of my element (not much action in still frames) and doing things that would be considered 'effects' if I were using any other editor. But since I'm using wmm I'm sure they'll be passed off as mattes again. ;p Like you can do a matte with wmm. Heh, right...
My only regret? The songs - I don't think they'll appeal to the fans as much as they do to me. Oh, any real fan of the pairing will love the vid regardless, but I wish the songs were more wellknown. They're really lovely, just...different. I guess they've grown on me. I can only hope that a warning will suffice. It would be bad if someone cranked the volume up and then got her ears blasted when the heavy part picks up. ;p

Mwaa-ha-ha!

Do a super search and plug in 'romance' for the category and 'hakusho' for the anime, ;p There are 19 vids on the org - out of hundreds of YYH vids on local, there are 19 that feature romance. And 14 are mine. LMAO!
Here I wondered why people thought my YYH vids were original - considering there are only 5 other people who've ever used YYH in a romance vid - on local - that's pretty damn original of me. Then add the fact that they aren't just romance - they're shonen ai romance. Yeah...I have my own genre here.
Heh...I'll be laughing over this one for hours. ;p
