JOURNAL: Arigatomina

  • Got it! ;p 2005-04-24 00:29:58 I've settled on what vid to make next. I've been wanting to do a Naruto vid to feature Shikamaru and Shino (two underused characters), but coming up with a song has really been challenging. All I want is an action vid with some lyric sync - nothing absolutely random, but something loose enough that I can follow it with the limited footage the anime offers of these two. Well, I got it. And since I can almost guarantee no one's used it, I don't mind saying the song. It's No Hay Camino Sin Salida by Justo Lamas. That's right, a spanish song. But it's got *such* a nice beat to it! And I just love the way he sings. Plus, it was really easy to memorize the lyrics, so I can imagine how much fun it'll be to watch a vid to the song - I can probably do my lyric sync without having to look at a translation every other second (like I have to with Japanese songs). I guess those foreign language credits paid off after all. ;p

I'm going to start getting the footage immediately. I don't imagine this will be a very long project - I'm not adding any insane effects. With this song and this footage (rarely if ever used considering the anime), the eyecandy will be in the action sync. No need for distracting effects. I'll have to put a note to thank Shinodude for the motivation. I'm downloading his first amv right now - a video featuring Shino (naturally). ^__^
  • hm... 2005-04-21 22:35:04 Okay, my new vid has been out for two days. I'm ready to start something new. Can we say short attention span? We can...? Oh.

I'm renting the dbz series - finally I'll have footage of the android/cell saga! Yay! Lots of Mirai Trunks and Vegeta footage. I may just go ahead and rent the entire series to patch in the holes in my collection - I only have about 10 dbz dvds. For such a long series, that isn't scratching the surface. Netflix has them all. >.> And I've worked through most of the other series they have, so dbz is about all that's left.

I think...I want to make a cutsy shoujo vid next. It would just counter my last one well - I'd have girls instead, light editing, and probably a pretty song. Unfortunately, I also want to make a Naruto vid and a One Piece vid. I'll probably end up starting another multi-anime if I'm not careful. >.<

But now I have two definite vids to send to yaoi-con. I'm afraid I won't be able to send gmen unless I do something about the girls in it. Sure, they're a short part, but they're still in the vid. Rather sucks. And I'm not sure if my Fushigi Yuugi vid will fit, either - there are 4 clips of Miaka, two of which have her with Tamahome. I'm not sure if there's any leeway for entries - the main themes are all shonen ai, naturally, but with those glimpses of girls (het), I'm afraid to try it. I may just send it and let them decide. It would make a nice 'drama' entry for me. Then the only thing left would be a yaoi action vid. That's just the sort of Naruto or One Piece vid I had in mind. Not much time to get started on a new one, though.

Otherwise...I was thinking about remastering one of my YYH vids. It would fit with the theme. But I sent a Kurama/Hiei vid to Alanis last year. I don't think it would be right to send *another* one this year. I've also been tossing around the idea of doing a yaoi-only version of my Animal Attraction vid. But I just finished a comedy/fun vid. I don't want to enter two vids to the same 'category.'

Blegh. I don't like thinking ahead. I just want to start a new project. :(
  • Yeah! 2005-04-20 04:43:42 It's done! It's done!http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=69822

    ^_^;;

Actually it was finished yesterday, but the vid had so many sources that even cleaning each one before-hand wasn't enough. I had to go back and edit a few of the frames to cut the more obvious shadows out. I think the Soul Hunter dvds were the worst - very pathetic considering the pretty animation. The dubbers couldn't encode for crap - even Sailormoon footage cleans up better than Soul Hunter does. Then again, the Trigun dvds gave some strange shadows as well. I get annoyed at having problems like that on expensive US dvds that give you 3 lousy episodes per $30 disc. At least clean the crap up before you overcharge me. Grr.

But it's done. Short song, so I left the bitrate up. As long as a vid is under 50mbs I consider it fine, compared to the 90mb whoppers out there. And honestly, my little gaudy effects looked fuzzy at anything lower. You just can't compress tiny screencaps 3 times in a row and expect them to look good, not when they're moving and flashing at the same time. :(

India: I forgot it was the last part of tax season with everyone rushing to file. I couldn't borrow the cell phone. :(
  • updates 2005-04-14 23:19:11 Since all the trouble started with Kero, I've gotten a number of reviews on my older vids. I rather like that. o.O Makes me glad I haven't done many amvs this year.

I have 40 seconds done in the video. The first 15 took the longest, mostly learning how to do what I had in mind. Now it's just a matter of establishing a pattern for the rest of the video and doing my best to *avoid* that pattern. Pattern = predictable = boring.

It's an effect-vid, in case anyone couldn't guess from how long I've been messing with it. But it's not like the rest, it's not 'wow/amazing/cool'. It's 'what the hell was that...? is she on crack...?' Yeah. That's my kind of effect-vid. ;p

Effects are not allowed during lyric sync, and I love eyecandy during action/dance sync, so the effects are carefully maintained in their own little spots. Organization, yes, but almost minimalization. If I use effects it's one of two ways - crazily and comical, so corny I grin just seeing them - or weird and entirely 'self-made'.

Lots of fun frame editing here. I'm going to announce it when it's finished. I want to hear how the Premiere people say I did each 'effect'. I'm honestly curious to see how many of these things I'm imagining are actually 'stock' effects in Premiere.

Time till completion...I have no idea. Give it 2 weeks. I expect to get a lot done this weekend if I can keep my stinking family from dropping their children off on me. >.< If I wanted whiny kids, I'd have had one before I was 18, just like every other female in my family. Morons.

India - I'm going to call you. If you won't be at the same number, email me before this weekend (Saturday evening most likely).
  • One Piece - dub 2005-04-09 21:33:42 Yeah, I went ahead and watched an episode of One Piece in English. OMG is that something I'll never do again. God save us from the crew that assigned Sanji's voice actor. What the hell were they thinking? He isn't the Kuwabara character, but he certainly sounds like it. He even has some pretense at an accent - but it's so muddled by his "big stupid guy" voice that it just sounds horrible. I died. He opened his mouth, said two words, and I died.

I hate to think what those people who only watch the dub will think of his character now. Sanji is a a fruit, sure, when a girl is involved. But the rest of the time he's a soft spoken "smooth talker" - sly, intelligent. Jeeze, he isn't even a muscle-head. There's absolutely no reason to give him a voice like that.

Never again. I think I'll just swear off dubs entirely, at least the 4kids dubbing. Those dubbers are just stupid, that's the only possible explanation...they're just stupid.
