JOURNAL: Arigatomina

  • new vidlet 2006-09-18 10:55:02 I'm mentioning it here because I don't want to log in to the forum.

    It's a Tsubasa RC vid, featuring Fay and Kurogane, and mixing anime with the manga. It's spoiler-heavy for chapters 120 through 127 of the manga so viewer beware. The song just seemed to fit very well. The last Fay-fold in the manga had a caption about which Fay wishes for more, "a sorrowful life, or a peaceful death?" It was too much to resist.

    The vid is short, barely 1.5 minutes, and the editing is odd. But considering how quickly I put it together (including manga editing), I think it turned out well. Hopefully that will satisfy my Fay-cravings for a while. The manga and anime are both off on crap-mini-arcs so it may be a month or more of "real time" before Fay wakes up. So painful being in love and impatient. :(

    PS: The vid is direct-hosted because it's quicker on my end. I might put a local version up in 1.5 months.
  • rambling re: vids 2006-09-05 18:15:23 So. I have three projects in line now. One is a single-anime romance vid. I'm listening to the song for that one now, but it makes me want to do some more action editing. I really need to do something to get rid of that urge to edit a purely action video. I don't *do* purely action vids. I haven't done one in years. Not since I was first doing practice vids to improve my action sync a little. Even when I set out to do one, there's too much drama, too much lyric sync. Or there are no lyrics and I end up with dance instead. I know. I've done this rant already. But it didn't go away after the 'colors' vid. I'm starting to think it won't go away at all. It'll just stick around like a nasty lump in the back of my brain, pulsing at the most inconvenient times and hiding when I go to get it surgically removed. Stupid tumor.

    The other two are comedy/parody vids. I just realized that the comedy vids will require lip sync. Ouch. I can't even imagine trying to do lip sync in Premiere. Will it be easier or harder than wmm? Will it look better or worse? Oh, my god, just the thought that it could possibly be worse is mindboggling. Lip sync is to me now what effects were to me a few years ago. Painful to even think about. I like the comedy ideas, but...lip sync. That pretty much means I stand a good chance of royally screwing the vids over just because of the lip sync, the rest of the parody/editing be damned. Intimidating. I'll need to be in a perfectionist mood. Yeah, I get those once in a while. It's just a matter of dropping everything the moment it hits and diving into a complicated project that requires that sort of focus. Sort of like inspiration. That's how I ended up doing a fan-animated vid, after all. I got a sudden urge to do something tedious and ridiculously difficult that no one but me would appreciate and I milked it for all it was worth. The fallout lasted months, maybe it never ended, but the obsession was a great ride.

    On another note, I need to do more of those weekend projects. Direct hosted ones. No guilt, no expectations. It was fun. I wanna go again. #^_^#

  • yaoi yaoi yaoi 2006-09-05 12:22:39 Vid's done. ^.^ You feeling that? No? Hn. Figured it was just me.

    I'm hosting it on my site, so I went ahead and put an indirect link here. Can't be any worse than hentai vids, right? Yeah. It's not as hardcore as I thought it would be. But that's not my fault, really. My favorite smutty scene are using an anime that has the genetalia blocked out. It's still too risque for anything but an indirect link. Kinda makes me proud.

    Maybe I should put it on Ytube. It's not a local vid, so chances are I'll have time to upload it myself before anyone else gets to it. ;p
  • way too dark 2006-09-04 21:28:34 I really hate that my computer is set so much darker than it should be. I realized that back when I was doing animation on my computer at work, and then taking it home to touch up on this computer. The difference in the colors was disturbing. I did all sorts of tricks to try and make the dark/light/hue settings on my home comp more...standard...but it didn't really work. I'm used to it, but it means I miss out on things other people probably take for granted.

    When I watched Sukisho (Sukisyo) the first time I couldn't figure out who was supposed to be having sex in the 'dark' scenes after the valentine's episode. I was sure it was Yoru and Ran, but then the music video for Shinichi (sp? the nurse and the math teacher) used clips from that scene. So I thought it was them instead. Now that I'm actually using the footage (dvd rips, yay) I can play with the dark/light filter. Turns out it's both pairings! Yeah, I was surprised. I tried it on my tv, but I guess my tv color settings are too dark as well, because it wasn't any better than my computer. But a little filter adjustment and it's really clear who's in those dark scenes. The first one has blue eyes, and then there's definitely pink boy and the mismatched eyed Yoru. I still think it's natural that I couldn't tell - the scenes are way too dark. But I'm curious. How much lighter are those scenes on other people's computers (and tvsets)? And how washed out does it look when I adjust the scenes to visibility (make them brighter) so I can see them - and then someone else downloads the edited footage?

    I did that with some Gundam Wing scenes once and it looked horrible - looked great on my comp, but looked totally washed out everywhere else. I don't really care with this particular project, but it's annoying for the most part. I get comments on my fanart about the compression - little blocks or pasty sections that I didn't see because I colored them at a much darker setting than they're being viewed. I had my old computer set up on my desk for a while so I could compare the two, but I think it's set way too bright. It's no more 'standard' than my newer computer is. Way too bright versus way too dark? I'll go for the dark. I'm used to the way it looks.

    On a bright note, I'm playing with the transform effect (filter?setting?) in Premiere 6.0. Thank Godix. A lot. He's got my first nom for most helpful next year, no joke. That one filter make so many things so much easier to do. And keyframes! I know what they are and how to use them now. Heh, I'm such a total dumbass. Noob doesn't even cover it. If you put something I need right in front of me I'll never find it on my own. You have to hide it under a mess of other things somewhere behind me - then it'll be the first thing I find. Always looking for the hardest route so I miss the obvious. Good thing I'm used to that, or I'd be tearing my hair out by now.

    I'm trying some things that should come in handy later. I still have to see how the still pics look when I export (no betas for this project), but I think the quality should be maintained. If so, then heck, I might actually be ready to pick that 'Devil and Devil' vid back up. But, that's for later. Way too much on my plate. I have an ending and an intro to put together. That means sorting through the unused scenes and picking out my utmost favorite ones. So many favorites and so little time. But it's fun. ^_^

  • ldw 2006-09-03 18:02:19 I'm editing a video I don't want anyone on the org to download. Well, maybe one or two people. Right now it's just one. ^_^;

    Why write that here? I want to remember how it feels. It's been years since I made a vid without considering the 'org audience' even a little bit in the back of my head. It's a one, two - day project. Nothing big. But, wow, is it yummy fun. Makes me blush. ;p

    On another note, I downloaded and watched some vids last night. I think I'll op them tomorrow (day off! yeah! yay!). There's one I'm definitely going to op. I got an op from a new name and checked her profile - she has a handful of videos and not a single op. If they were all new, that might be expected, but the early ones are from last year. That's just not right. I've downloaded two of her vids so far and she's made noticeable improvement without any feedback. Much more potential than I had when I started. I love running across 'unfound' editors like that. Makes me want to get back into the 'op mine and I'll op yours' game. It's a good way to find new editors who can really use a little feedback in return.

    But that's tomorrow and next week. Right now I'm about to start editing. Blushing again. ;p Good thing the office is empty downstairs. I can't even scan scenes without giggling. I'm such a perv. I'll probably be back to privatize this entry the first time I take a break from the project. Ari in fangirl mode is embarrassing in retrospect. ^.^ Till then...squee~! India's gonna love this vid. ;p
