  • C is for CCA's 2010-01-09 20:47:32 Yay. It's time for my own personal choice awards! YAYYYYYYYYAYA.

It's come to my attention that I've been here for 4 years now. HOLY SHIT. O_O

So I'm giving out some 2009 awards, and hopefully I won't show my age here....

Let's start things off with the obvious award!

[Also, damn it. It took me a total of 2 hours to come up with all of these...]

Code's Best "FUCK YOU AMV.ORG AND YOUR PRETENTIOUS BULLSHIT" Award

Winner: Fluffy Kittens and Rainbows / Chii
    http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=171932

Chii, I love you sometimes. Nine times out of ten, your opinions and reactions to AMV's are what they're supposed to be. And the drama that org puts on things and videos really does turn it into a pretty bleak place that forgets that this is a fun hobby that we want to do with friends and family. And this video takes all that drama/bullshit/trolling and shoves it up the ass of an angry Chewbacca. This AMV reflects what ALL AMV's should be like. Works that the editor, the fans and the community can appreciate and have fun watching. AMV's don't have to be fantastic pieces of artwork [but they can], and AMV's can be fantastic pieces of artwork in a different way than just a epic storyline. And for that, Chii, I present you with this award!

    Code's "Quantity over Quality" Award

    Winner: TwilightChrono

TC, you're a great guy. But DAMN you churn out a lot of videos. xD And the problem with this is that while you have a gigantic quantity of AMV's, none of them really stand out as "epic" and many of them feel rushed. So let's reverse this a little! Let's go for Quality over Quantity this year buddy, and let's learn to take a little more time on our videos and perfecting them with beta testers and changing what doesn't work!

Check out his long list of releases here: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_myprofile.php?user_id=875228

Code's "Where The Hell Did It Go?" Award

    Winner: meleechampion / omegaevolution

meleechampion, where did you go? I saw a mere two AMVs from you this year, and I wanted more from you. You're one of my favorite editors around here, and you had such original and awesome titles.

    The sadness going through my heart has no ends. Omega, we didn't get a SINGLE AMV from you this year. ;_____________;

Omega, we had such great titles from you like Battle Hymn of the Soul and Wild Fang, and you just dissapear from us... =( Here's hoping that you return with more greatness! =D

Go hang out with the crickets here:

    Code's "Who?" Award

    Winner: Chez'

Honestly, there are many many people out there that don't get enough recognition in the AMV world, and I realize this award may be a little strange, but it's more my own opinion than anything else. Chez makes these amazing story-epic AMV's with amazing quality of structure that gets swept under the rug. "Love Meh" was horrorific and sheer awesomeness on a stick, not to mention Absolution Of A Lunar Stalker, which had one of the better "Stalker Horror" AMV structures I've seen in a long time.

So go check out his AMV's. : http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_myprofile.php?user_id=914363

    Code's "Best New Face" Award

    Winner: Soup / Kenziichu

Soup joined us this past March in 2009, and is probably one of my favorite new editors this year. Sure, his attitude is kind of shitty at times, but he made Legacy, so I can forgive him I suppose. He started kind of at a 75%, but is now at a strong 85-90% in my opinion anyway. Although would it KILL him to use something other than Advent Children? *hint*hint*hint*

Kenzi joined us in February, and started editing with one of my favorite songs, which automatically put her on my radar. While the editing was a tad flawed, it was still enjoyable to some degree. And then, the unthinkable happned. SHE TOOK CONSTRUCTIVE CRITISISM! O_O After that, she went on to release 18+ other videos and MEP segments, all of which were vast improvements one after another. Her visual quality is still kind of poor, but the fact that she keeps on improving [and because she made the AMV with Taylor Swift's 15, making one of the better "storytelling" AMV's I've seen in years since Kiarrens Ouran Day], means I expect great things out of her in 2010.

Code's "It's About Fucking Time" Award

    Winner: Hasteroth

Hasteroth, as much as a bastard you were in the early days of your appearance here on the ORG and on IRC, you're really come a long ways. It seems like you always had something smug to say about something, and many people couldn't care since you hadn't actually edited anything. But then, this year you finally pulled something out of your ass. And surprise upon surprises, it was actually pretty well done and entertaining. I look forward to more work from ya buddy, and don't wait another year before making your next one.

    Code's "Trying Too Hard" Award

Winner: DZ Studios / AUN Studios

    SEriously.. You guys?

DZ, you guys take AMV editing WAY too seriously. Between Atari, Arashimone and Reda, you'd think the forums are a battlefield, and AMV editing is the tactics to defeating. You guys take yourselfs and the hobby REALLY seriously, and attempt to troll out anybody that doesn't fit the model. Take a chill pill ya'll! Ya'll are great editors and have great amount of talent and have consistantly great releases. Arashie had awesome vids, Atari had great vids, and the studio as a whole had awesome vids! But if you are too harsh towards people, all that hard work goes out the window if nobody wants to see them. =(

AUN, I remember watching your AuN Project 2009 - TouhouMix, and just thinking right off the bat. "Holy shit. The org is turning into West Side Story, and AUN is going to be the "sharks". That or a really mixed up game of Saint's Row 2 with AUN as one of the three big gangs with guns blazing." Anyway, I remember the good days of AUN studios when they game out with great quality work. I know Touhou Mix was thrown together in just a small amount of time, but it's all the work in 2009 really. I didn't have just a single AUN release I though was just "showstopping" outside of jade_eyed_angel's "Chained to the Sun" video. Everything seemed more about the AUN image this year than quality. Let's see some more releases like "Stuck on the Battlefield", and "Shattered Dreams". =D

Note: Zero No Ai and Soul Groove were great 2009 releases before I get the studio members on my case. xD

Code's "OMFG. YOUR AWESOMENESS BROUGHT ME BACK!"

I threw an emo temper tantrum back in 08' of November and left the site for a few months. When I came back, I had no intention of posting on the fourms or doing anything active other than download videos. However...

    Winner: Chained to the Sun

    http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=165093

For whatever reason, I saw this in the announcement thread and fell in love with the video. It's quite possibly one of my favorite videos of the year, if not I've ever seen on the site, and forced me to post and let them know how much I adored the video.

Well... After that, I started posting more and more and eventually came back into full steam. So... Thanks J_E_A! =D

    ______________

Code's "What the Fuck Happened to You?" Award

    Winner: Phlu

Phlu, when I left last year, you were new, but at least attempting to be a pretty nice guy. When I return, you get temp banned left and right, act like a bastard to everyone and generally are not a fun person to be around. WHAT HAPPENED?

    __________________

    Code's "Immigration" Award

    Winner: Re-Evolution Studios

Can't say exactly when you guys all came to the Org, but I'm very glad you did. All your works vary in level of editing and level of skill and overall enjoyment, but the majority of ya'lls work is very nice and fresh to bring to the org. Every time I see one of those "Re-Evo" avatars in the Annoucements forum, I always get a little grin, because I know I'm in for something good. =D

    Winner: pwolf

    http://www.pwolfamv.com/

Pwolf is the editor that I most identify with in terms of editing. My favorite genre to edit is Sentimental, and he's the fucking KING of sentimental awesome videos. It's my goal to one day hear "Dude, that vid reminds me of Pwolf" on one of my videos. Everything he releases is simply amazing and fun to watch. And this fact has been pretty solid for 3 years now, and in 2009, he's still my favorite editor of all time. HANDS DOWN.

Code's "I want to see MOAR" Award

    Winner: Jaddziadax

    http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_myprofile.php?user_id=188266

Jaddiza, I understand you released several great videos this year. I also understand that you probably have more important things to do than make AMV's.

    But pretty much everything you've ever released, I've adored. I need MOAR. ;____;

    http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=173102

    ____________

Code's "OMG Worst Timing EVER" Award

    Winner: Animated ; Live

    http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=171292

Animated, you released this video the day after my grandfather and mentor died. And to see an AMV about funeral and the whole "living life" thing, I bawled my eyes out watching it. And I mean, I don't cry that often. But I broke down and fucking SOBBED.

And it was a really great video too man. =)

Code's "Why Does Nobody Like This Video" Award

    Winner: Number One ; Kyssifur

    http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=170411

Why does nobody like this video? It's one of the best the site has seen all year using this genre of music, and for whatever reason it's not getting the proper recogniztion it deserves.

    ______________________

Code's "Old Video That Kicked Ass"

    Winner: Sonydjsnmix

    http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=168722

SEriuosly, an old anime, but the song and editing made me interested in in, and I've got it on my list of anime to check out this summer. =) IT was so much fun to watch and get involved in, and they gave it such great atmosphere. And the fact that they focused on a romance that involved kids and a "crush" was adorable. =D

Why this didn't win an award, I'll never know. Those judges are retarded. >________>

  • F is for First / D is for Day / C is for CCA's 2010-01-09 14:00:21 First off, I need some people to give me their impressions about the first chorus of my action AMV. I'd like people who can have different tastes and who may not particularly like Action AMV's. I'd also like some quality control in terms of video quality. I don't want to go any further in my editing until I get this part perfect [or as close to perfect as I can get it]. Once my video is done, I'll give all my beta testers a free op on any video they'd like.

    ______________

This day hasn't started off very well. My mother has already cried about money, my dad's having to sell his favorite car and my sister is reverting to infant like behavior.

And I'm about to go shell out nearly $600 for books. >____<'

    CCA = Code Choice Award

I know it's odd and people probably won't care, but here later tonight, I'm going to sit down and go through all the videos of 2009 and give my own personalized awards out. Winners won't get anything but recognition in my journal for the VCA's and hopefully some people will want to discuss it with me.
  • A is for Action 2010-01-09 00:28:35 Currently started my first Action video ever.

I've got 44 seconds edited, and my usual OCD is coming into play. I can't start working on the rest of it until I get more footage, so I'm spazzing out trying to make the opening more fast and interesting, especially since after "Forever to Forget" many people said my opening was boring, so I'm trying to remedy this and make everything interesting instead of just the climax of the song.

And it doesn't help that I'm more of a sentimental editor and more about telling a story than just showing off action. But it's a new experience and is definitely helping me figure out different types of sync rather than just lyric or emotional.

I'm also noticing little bits of annoyance here and there with Buso Renkin footage, and it looks like shit right now. But I'm keeping all my scripts simple [just a crop], so my premier pro and laptop don't chug my processor to death. I might need some help on quality control in the future. *drooling looks at mirko*

It's definitely fun, and I love the mashup song I'm using. It's giving me both the high pace action, but still room for some sentimental drama and perhaps minor character profiling.

Also, it's odd, but I'm editing with an anime I've never seen before. >___________>

I will definitely be checking it out once I'm done editing with it though! =D

  • K is for Knownname 2010-01-08 04:35:59 Knownname, I know who Bon Jovi is. He's one of my favorite artists right alongside Van Halen and other classics >____>

I was loving the mashup they did of him and Usher and I liked the Glee CD. <_____>

I may live in Hickville, but I know my damn music history of epicness..
