In sickness and in health

For now, the dreaded cold has come upon me and my head is too foggy to do anything.... at all.... today. Just today I hope.

Edit, edit, copy, clip, paste... WTF! What am I doing?

Did you ever try moving a piece of furniture across the floor? Of course. What about the time you moved it and it left a big scratch mark and you though to yourself: "Holy $h!t, my (enter name of feared loved one here) is gonna kill me. Why didn't I ask for help before I started?".
Well, that's kinda like what I felt like. You see, I've been trying to move clips and full episodes of the Mini Goddesses onto my hard drive but I've had nothing but trouble. Trying to find a program that would be freeware, small and create nice, compact versions of mpegs or AVIs. The Windows Start Menu is my scratched floor. A skidmark of shitty programs going up and down the list. My poor, poor computer, what infectious files have I fed to you? .... Holy $h!t, my wife is gonna kill me!
Then, I had a brilliant idea, why not let Premiere Pro do the work for me? After Premiere made 7 episodes take up 40gig of space I wondered about my intelligence and made me think that I'm just not made for this.
But then, oh my, but then, I became wise from my experience, I did a forum search on AMV dot Org..... one thing came up, and up, and up, READFAG. REVELATION, SALVATION. Why didn't I ask the forum for help before I started? Wonderful AVIsynth, beautiful, sexy AVIsynth. How could Bill Gates not find you and add you into Windows a long time ago? God knows he did it to other programs.
Let's see, what are the steps? Copy only the episodes I want... check. Review footage... check. Create footage index.... check. Let the AMV version of AVIsynth do the work for you and create the AVS files... check. GLORIOUS, GLORIOUS AVISYNTH! For a self proclaimed half-atheist you are God within the video edit world!

Ready to go. But....
2005-11-26 19:46:12
There's the amount of time that needs to be factored in.... if I get up at 4am every weekday, work until 7am, eat, shower, say bye to the wife and kids and head out by 8am, that makes really about 12 hours a week (factor in that it will take about 15 minutes or more every morning to get ready and awake).
AYE!!! Pas Possible!!! Well, maybe.
STEP1: I've got the plan, song, timeline and the general idea of what the AMV will look like.
STEP2: Find the footage (Mini Goddess and Jin Roh (my wife doesn't want me to lend this one out to friends)
STEP3: Move footage to Hard Drive, divide into segments and chapters and then fall dead from all the gamma radiation of the monitor.
What I have to work with:
Premiere Pro, Photoshop 7
Mattes, transitions, PIP, still shots, sarcastic sense of humour and 80 extra lbs.
Can I do it?

Almost ready to work on something.

Went through the Adobe Premiere Pro Bible, took a week but it was a very (and will continue to be) a ressource for me when I need help with features.
Finally got to make Image Mattes to work with Alpha channel, very neat but... I can't get the mattes to rotate around like in the Euphoria AMV. I know the creator used Magix Movie Maker but I refuse to believe the Premiere can't do this... I'll get it figured out.
Wish me luck and maybe I'll post the steps up as a tutorial.

First time journal entry.
Journal: Having fun reading posts and such, also noticed a bad omen with a music house not liking people using their songs for AMVs, pity, it actually makes sense to get the music out there... but then they have to keep their image. I'm sure Creed wouldn't like to be associated with a Date Rape AMV, but hey, they're not together anymore, looks like someone high above forgot about them. ;-)
In any case, created my first AMV back in early October to Anna Lanick's Forever Love using AMG season 1 footage, I liked it but then I saw Premonition Studios AMVs and decided to ditch Microsoft MM2 and got for Premiere. I thought Premiere was too complicated last year but it is very versatile once you get the correct flow going, and easier than I thought.
Watching many other AMVs to get a good feel of what to use for Action compared to Romance and Comedy...etc. I think I need to go to film school (at 35? 2 kids, too late?)
Got an Idea for AMV now, includes Mini Goddess Adventures and a specific song which I won't mention just in case someone from Run DMC is reading. :-0
