  • Now it's just gravy! 2005-12-06 09:09:36 Scintilla gave me the answer I was looking for "Garbage Matte" ! 8 points of garbage! I can now create sequences of action the way I want and add whatever effect with a transparent background.... it's the cat's shit I tell you! Works amazingly!
Anyway, I managed to make the preliminary effects last night and this morning I put in the final touches to 20 seconds worth of clip, looks great. I added a few transitions but I'll switch that with the garbage matte later to keep the feel of a cheesy fun anime.
I suspect I should be done by.... February.... huh?!? Man, I'm putting a lot of effort in this. Hope I can enter it in ConectiCon... or maybe I should leave the competition to the locals? I've got high expectations, don't I?
  • Arrrgh! Transition or sequence!!! (bang your head here) 2005-12-05 08:43:08 Bad morning, trying to get a transition in to push 1 anime with a masked partial edge into another (making a split screen) but had no success. Seems easy enough on paper... but in practice (Bang, bang, bang!)
    Will post in forums.
  • JH 2005-12-02 11:32:31 Thank you for the tips, I will try them. I'll be posting my findings in my journal, this is my "Growing" phase of AMV creation so it should be interesting.
  • JudgeHolden 2005-12-02 10:31:15 * "What App are you using ... I find it often has to do with how you imported the footage in the first place"

Thank you for your help on this. Here's how I did it ( I may be missing a step) .
    1. Used DVD shink, brought the VOB to the Hard Drive
    2. Used (ah I can't remember the app) to create the AVS files (creates those keyframes)
    3. Edited the AVS to remove Interlace [set to progressive] (but I dont' know if that *IS* the way to do it.
    4. Used (is it vobdub? ) to preview and I take still shots from this to do stop motion.
    5. Open Premiere and open the AVS file from the d2v directory I created. I choose my footage from here. (I'm sure I must be missing somthing)

Sorry I'm doing this quick, right now I'm at work so I have to type fast.
  • That worked! 2005-12-02 10:04:17 OK, setting it to progressive worked. I also have a lot to learn about the quality of the vids I'm creating. I've finished 10seconds of the video ( the 1st 8 seconds took 10 hours and the following 6 seconds (4 of them overlapping the first 8) took 3 hours. I'm getting much faster and getting used to the app.
I have a problem though with the image quality coming out, the colors seem to be washed out, kinda fuzzy. I hope the final output won't look like that; I did a trial run with the 10 seconds, doesn't seem as sharp as some vids you can download from AMV.org.

Had a heck of a time to find a dancing Skuld, I had to do stop motion for Urd's character, looks a bit choppy. One of my co-workers told me to use ImageReady with Photoshop 7, this should smooth out the action. Will try in the AM. Also need to smooth out the lines around the characters.

I have a gnawing feeling that someone was trying to tell me something the other day when I posted reply with a journal entry. Something about introductions... I guess that would be warranted. Next time I talk to them, I'll introduct myself... but who was it? :-(
