  • WMM, AVI, WMV debate (why do I get involved?) 2006-06-16 20:18:09 Editors seem to naturally gravitate towards complete editing software packages not only because of stereotypical reason but because WMM is very limited in what it can do. I started out with WMM and saved my vid as WMV but found that WMM did nothing to enhance video quality and is a basic cut and paste program with very few features that are created using XML.

Now, saying this, there is more to AMVs than sequencing clips together, if you want to create something totally new with an anime (I plug my Skuld Vs Urd here), this is something that can never be done with WMM.

For the debate between WMV and AVI format, this could have to do with AVISynth being such a popular FREE application and it is so strong in features when combined with VirtualDub (or is it all the same?). Now I don't know if this package can save to WMV but it's something I don't care about because I know that AVI format is toted to be the cat's meow at the ORG.

But then, maybe people equate WMV with Window Movie Maker... I know I did for a while. And, again, we all know that WMM is.... well.... nevermind.
