  • The Colonel's Music secret recipe!! (My opinion) 2006-09-14 08:37:23 Ok, this is why so many 80's rock record producers quit the music scene for a while. There was a recipe for almost all 80's hair band music and it goes a little something like this:

    Verse/Chorus/Verse/Corus/Guitar Solo/Chorus/Chorus *END*
    and
    Verse/Chorus/Verse/Corus/halfVerse/Guitar Solo/Verse/Chorus/Chorus *END*

    Now, after a few years of this, a few bands said that there was just nothing to write anymore because everything sounded the same. Then the roof caved in and the whole 80's hair band style collapsed. Producers got so sick of it that they basically quit for a few years to come back as tired old men (well, I made up the tired part) .

    But, one notable difference in the hair band scene way back when was Def Leppard (my wife loves them), their style of music seemed to combine 2 guitars as pseudo-lead, it was sometimes difficult to determine who was lead and who was rhythm. This gave it a "fresh" sound which guys squeed for and the onstage engery and charisma of Joe Elliott made the girls squee too. But their full guitar sound and strong drum and the raspy vocal gave them something that Mutt Lang couldn't add, character.

    But then, as always, everything started to sound the same. You couldn't differentiate Brian Adams, Shania Twain and Def Leppard from each other after a while.

  • 2006-09-14 05:16:46 Meds are a great thing, at least they make the kids sleep better, that's the most important thing for everyone.

    Anyway, 10 seconds of rough cut put in, looks like a long haul for this vid.
