  • W-T-F-? I need therapy... 2006-08-20 15:36:07 Okay, so this isn't like aimed at anyone...it's just my random blabber about myself and the situation I currently find myself in...

    I look at my profile today and realize that I need to sorely update the section of it that includes upcoming projects and stuff. Only problem is that not even *I* know what the hell I'm going to do next. :X

    The problem a few weeks ago was that I suffered from a serious lack of inspiration. So, I watched a bunch of vids, went to a con, wrote some ops...all of that helped...maybe a little too much, cuz now I have WAY too many ideas and no clue how to execute a single one of them. I see portions of all of them in my head every time I listen to their respective songs...it's filling in the blanks I'm having a hard time with.

    And then there's my propensity for not finishing what I start and switching ideas midway through something or before it even gets started in the first place. I pick a concept, go "YAY!", grab some clips and then inevitably I end up hearing another song and going..."ooooooh...I should put this anime to that and do this!!" and my project that I was working on to begin with gets shelved while the ADD in me goes on to something new.

    This is probably why I'm not one of the more prolific editors on the org...

    And it happened again this week...I had in mind what I wanted to do next...another really angsty character profile...song picked out, title picked out...had most of it mapped out in my head...then I finished watching the Utena series and went..."you know...there sure are a lot of shirtless bishies running around in here...I should do a really kick ass bish fanservice vid...maybe even have it done by Yaoi Con??"

    Thus, character profile - shelved.

    Then, last night...I watched Pretear. Managed to find the whole series at Best Buy for 20 bucks, but that's not the point - I just wanted to share my good shopping fortune. Anyway...after watching it, I'm like..."I should do an amv to this...but I need a good tragic romancy type song." At this point, my bish fanservice vid was still safe, cuz I didn't have a song to go with this Pretear idea...

    Until this morning on aim when someone I've never heard of who's a member of a band I've never heard of from Detroit IMs me out of the blue and asks me if I still make AMVs. I laugh and say "yeah, when I get my head out of my ass and finish one..." He proceeds to proposition me with a song of theirs that he'd like to see me make an amv to...and yup...nice tragic romance song. Nail in the bish vid's coffin was that he'd like the vid done before the band goes off to Europe...which means that if I do this vid, I have to do it NOW.

    Thus, as we speak, I'm ripping Pretear dvds. :X

    BUT...(of course, there's a "but")...before I can start on this vid, I have to finish the project I'm currently working on...I will NOT let my ADD rule me when I have a damn near completed video waiting for release.

    And those...in a nutshell...are my editing woes for the day. :P

    So, my work here is done.

    Methinks I'll take a bit of time now to play some City of Heroes...and then I be hittin the hay...the caffeine is beginning to wear off...

  • 2006-08-19 01:59:08 PWAG - Regarding awards...they're not always all they're cracked up to be...but if you really want one, my advice is that you make the amvs YOU want to make; don't make them with awards in mind. If you put your heart into it and make the vid to please YOU, the awards will follow eventually. At least, that's how it happened for me. :X

    Sub0 - I'd die?? But I love Rina's metal penis... :P

    Oh, and btw...what's this I hear about you suggesting a song on the forums, but not allowing any of us girl editors to participate?? I mean, what if you're like Rina...and have a huge metal penis? Doesn't that count?? :P
