To those that left QCs for "Someday" today...
2006-01-31 20:15:55
Annonymous QCs...gotta love em. :) I really wish there were an option to respond...people don't have to know who they're responding TO, you know.
Anywho, regarding the 2 QCs that were left for this vid today:
QC#1: You mentioned this video would be good competition in Sakura-Con...thanks for the flattery! No, really, I mean that. While I do think this is my best vid to date, I'm not so sure it's con material. As I said in the video description...I'm just pimping Vlasis' music. :) But, seriously, I'm glad you enjoyed it, and thank you for the comment.
QC#2: Your comment mentioned that I should trim the song to hold the audience attention and that there were too many lingering clips. I must respectfully disagree with you about trimming the song...I just can't bring myself to "butcher" Vlasis' music...but I do understand why you say that...the song is rather repetitive. So, I guess on that note, we'll have to agree to disagree...it's artist perspective, IMO. As for clips lingering too long, I'm curious to know what clips you're referencing? (This is why I wish I could respond to QCs...) My only hope is that *maybe* you'll catch this entry and PM me or something. Seriously, I'm really trying to think what was so lingering, and can't come up with much to relate to, so while I appreciate the constructive criticism, I'm rather at a loss without an example. I do thank you, though, for the praise you offered as well.
In general, I'm still laughing my rear off when I look at the star average...I'm beginning to think that I've pissed someone off, because while the comments I'm getting are relatively positive, the numbers seem to go lower and lower. This is now the lowest ranking vid I have on the org (should I be admitting that? LOL), and I'm clueless as to why. From a technical aspect, it's by far much better than my 2005 releases (good lord people, watch "Falling Out" and you'll see what I mean!). Maybe it's because this is just a little more on the "artsy" side...I guess I'm having trouble finding an audience for it.
In all seriousness, I'd love for some more feedback...if anyone has a chance, please check the video out and let me know what you think. I'm really very easy to approach (as long as you don't flame), and I would love to hear what you have to say. The only way I can get better is if someone, anyone, would get up the courage to leave a name so I can ask a few questions or get clarification.
That is all. :)

The star average of "Someday"...
2006-01-30 20:38:39
ROFLMAO
It's funny that when I try my hardest to produce something of quality, it gets rated significantly lower than what I consider crap in retrospect.
"Someday" represents a lot of milestones for me...and it's certainly not a piece that everyone's going to enjoy, and I know that. However, if you compare it to my other videos, there's definitely improvement shown (at least, I've been told that, and I share the opinion). Why doesn't that reflect in ratings? ::sigh::
Maybe it's the lack of strong story (which, I really don't care if people don't like that aspect - I made it for Vlasis, who's never seen anime...so I had to keep it fairly simple), or maybe it's the fact that people just aren't into instrumentals, or even Vlasis' style of music. Who knows? I'm not going to stress over it any further, just thought I'd share the ramblings my brain had when I checked the vid's status tonight.
Oh well...maybe things will change when I get "The Mark of My Sins" finished...the hours I've put into that are over 350 now (spent all last weekend glued to the editor, now it's just a matter of encoding, compressing, and all that jazz).
Ok, I'm done angsting now. Really. :P

To the person who gave me a QC on "Precious Faye"...
2006-01-30 20:27:01
Thanks for the QC...yes, I'm aware that the footage seems slow. It's called FRAPS (the capture program I use because my motherboard is begging for mercy). It has the unfortunate drawback of slowing down clips. I compensate for this by speeding them up in the editing program, but sometimes it really affects the footage quality (in a bad way), so I have to take what I can get in some regards.
You'll be happy to know that I've found a temporary workaround for this (until I get a newer, faster computer, that is), and I suggest that you take a look at "Someday" as well as the next videos I release. You'll notice that the "slow mo" look isn't there (or at least, is much less noticeable).
Thanks for your honesty. It is a problem I'm aware of, and one that I work diligently to correct. :)
