okay, festival went very well this weekend (well, with a bit of controversy over my dgdi1&0 video, but I guess when the assistant director says 'family friendly' and you put a head blowing up and somone ripping their arms out of the socket just doesn't quite fit, does it ^.^ - my bad). Many folks got their eyes caught by the flashy flashy images on the screne (however, they turned down the sound a lot so not many could hear it at all, but meh...)
I spent way too much time on this project - the night before was up to 4:30am writing the DVD's, the night before that was up to 2:00am re-encoding files... Overall, happy with the way they turned out! Had my primary DVD's, backup copies just in case, and my DVD-RW that I tested them on in the first place as a secondary backup! Okay, paranoid yes, but at least if something went wrong...
lots of flyers were handed out that day! Hopefully that will equate to a lot more attendees at this years convention. What was good was that they printed doublesided cardstock color images, so most folks don't throw them away right away (good move on whoever placed that order).
after about spending the rest of the day and then yesterday in a funk about P.O-ing the asst director, I got myself back on track with my clip-making for my AMV. I really want to have this finished for the convention, but as I'm going thru it all, I'm having my doubts. I've put a deadline of this week to fiish my clips as it's getting really late in this month to start a vid and finish it before the deadline at the end of Feb. Pressing on, however, making clips for not 1, not 2, but 4 vids (if all goes well). One vid for each of the 3 children in Evangelion and 1 for the VD-MEP (fingers double-crossed).
oh, and just a side note, there is a reason why when you buy a cd from a one-hit wonder band, the balance of the songs other than the hit suck...

I think that QC is from Godix... sounds like his style (or lack thereof) :) Usually there's stuff about vomit too, guess he's loosing his touch...

about the AIM message, mostly wanted to say Happy New Year and wanted to find out if you actually finished that vid you wanted to do for the Festival? If you didn't no problem as I seem to have a lot of them right now. If you did, let me know and I'll see if I can get it from you. I'd have sent this via PM, but it seems to be having a glitch going on so...

I hope everyone has had a happy new year and didn't burn anything down in the process! The amv collection work is going well right now - I don't know how many minutes of vid I have yet, but I'm sure there's enough here... I'll let everyone know what happens with it as the week progresses!

heheh - okay, I've too succumb to the valentine's MEP... was listening to a Ella and Louis album last nite with my girlfriend and I started to laugh my butt off as images of EVA started coming into my head for this song (and they were so wrong, hence my participation in the MEP if I have the time).
Currently, instead of working on either the MEP clip or my AMV, I'm downloading and converting amv's for next weeks event t the local Japanese Cultural Center's New Year Festival. I have about 2.5 hours of video time to fill (a 2-hour looping dvd, and 2 approximately 15 minute video segments for a presentation). I've been up since 8 this morning converting and downloading stuff from one of the conventions directors. I am currently satisfied with the quality and quantity of vids that I have, but it don't hurt to have more.
making those bumpers in-between will be a little time consuming... but I think I can get thru it quickly... I hope.
lets see how long this takes :)
i need a faster computer (or one just dedicated to doing this kind of stuff).

uggh - another disc down, 7 more to go, still. With the new year looming and the deadline for K2 only about 2 months away, I am beginning to doubt that I'll have this AMV done. This is what happens when you take time out to do a Christmas MEP :) J/K
I've finally got to the point in EVA where Asuka has made her first appearance and I am still debating if I should make both my planned videos (one Shinji-centric the other Asuka-centric). I know I will probably make the clips for the second (Asuka) vid, but who knows when I'll have time to actualy make it.
I better start re-listening to my source audio again just to be sure I'm getting the right clips again - hate going back after the fact looking for clips because I sorta just started cliping stuff that 'looked cool'.
I think I work better without deadlines - but as K2 is my local convention (and I happen to be the assistant tech director and I bugged the coordinator about an AMV contest), wouldn't be right not to enter something.
I am very impressed by the number of folks who have responded to my postings for the Japanese Expo exhibition. Maybe it's just 'free advertising' or peeps just want to help out, but I am damn impressed by all the resposnes. And the quality of responses too that I'm getting is just terrific! I must admit there are a lot of vids I see that beginners just trying their hand at this AMV thing, but almost every case, the responses to my posting for entries are just above the line, IIDSSM.
There was only 1 sub-par vid, but that one had such a good seed idea there that I would have included it anyway if it were just carried out a bit better. If I knew or had the series, I'd remake it myself if given a chance to, the idea was that good (IMHO). But who am I kidding... when would I have the time?
on another note - listening to some music last nite and came across an interesting idea for a limited MEP to an action sort of song (quarashi - Stick 'em up)

I can see a bunch of us doing portions of the song with different editors for a full on integrated action vid. Might be a cool idea - hey Jadd - I can just see you doing that last section using SM (especially that part about 'there's a party at your house cause your mama is a stripper' - the image of that mipple-clad SM twirling just 'popped' into mind! hahahaha).
Anyway, must be getting back to work...
