  • Progress, ain't it grand! 2002-09-30 14:24:55 Hello again to everyone who actually reads this - those few cool people ;-) Or crazy stalkers ;-< Either way - HELLO!

    Anyway, alas, I missed AWA and mourn my loss but there is always next year. Hey, next year I'll have some good videos to compete with or review with others there so it'll be way cool. I definetly look forward to it and hopefully no one will just up and forget me, lol, those few that know me.

    So yeah, my super project has been ressurected! I took the time this weekend to just hunker down and grit my teeth and tackle this bad boy. I have a goal to fullfill and it's coming along nicely. The intro and ending are done (go figure, they are the easiest) and they are VERY pleasing to me. I can't wait to show it to others and David V, your ass needs to get back in town so you can see! So far 9 used layers of video, 2 of audio, and a ton of cuts, and close to 40 items in the bin, but only like 30-40 seconds done, lol. This is turning out to be a real monster compared to what I'm use to.

    I'm happy though, I'm pushing myself, testing my limits, and challenging myself to do what I never thought I could do. Most of all I'm striving to be original! Let's hope I'll get to show you all the finished product. This will make video number 5 for me... and man, for me, that's a big number. I never thought I'd see the day where I actually got to do this, as you may read in my profile. I can't profess to you all how much I enjoy it!

    So anyway, glad to see Sushi Boy Jared had a great time at AWA! I wish I coulda been there too. David V. better have vid for me, LOL! Me and my Fiance told him we'd live the con through his video efforts. Anyway, I'd like to try and get together with him and Jared and hear their stories, but I'm sure the two of them are probably too busy for a newbie like me, LOL!! Anyway, a shout out to them and glad they had such a great time and hopefully next year I can join em.

    I spent most of the weekend working on my vid and downloading other vids to see what makes em click. There are some awsome videos out there guys, stuff that makes me go "Wow, if I could impress someone as much as these guys impress me with their ability to make a complete video, then that would be WAY cool." Got some funny stuff, so freaky stuff, some stuff that looks like the makers had WAY too much time, and off course the fair share of stuff I just had to say "HUH!" to.

    So no one has ever e-mailed me, yeah, that sux, but I can understand it... I don't e-mail people either, unless I have something I can highlight and click reply. Hey, I'm a friendly guy, really!

    Have a great time (since you could be in day or night via the internet) and thanks for reading - hopefully I don't bore you that much!

  • Wow.... man.... BLAH! 2002-09-28 19:53:36 Yeah, so yeah... umm... this sux. I'm at home, hangin with my Fiance, just kinda blah day... Downloaded Cosplay Complex Episode 1 - it's hilarious! Wish Cosplay was like that in the U.S. - Man... then I'd so get back into it... WAIT! WHAT AM I THINKING?!?! NO NO! BAD! EVIL!!

    Ah, ok, so yeah, anyway. I want to thank Mr. David Violence for TOTALLY fucking up this story I had in my head that AWA looked sucky from the photo's I've seen. Yeah, that dick went and posted "OH! SO GREAT! OH! SHOULD BE HERE!" DAMMIT! Oh well... hopefully he's getting lots of footage for me to see later and wallow in self pity while watching.

    Yeah, so um, last night, about 1 am, I though "FUCK THIS! I only live once, I'm driving to Atlanta, going to the con, then driving back tomorrow night when I feel like it!" and stuff. I was about ready to head out the door, decided to check my bank acount... Let's see... 50.00... wow... and this 50.00 has to last till Thursday. WELL HELL! There goes that idea. UGH!

    So then what do I do? Look at pictures. Ah yes, that was fun. The pictures had to be of all the worst cosplayers ever and the absolute DULLEST scenes of the con cause I had myself convinced that MEGACON was better then AWA... Yeah, bad pics. Then I looked at the schedule... Looked pretty boring. So here I am with this image of WOW - Maybe AWA ain't "ALL THAT".

    Then, as per above, good old David Violence comes along and says how AWA is the shit. ARG! Just when I had myself all settled that I was not missing anything and would go next year. *Pout*. Oh well! I'm throwing a little party tonight with lots of booze and friends that have no idea what an anime con is, so hey, maybe that'll be fun. I'll expose them to more anime, maybe watch a classic American film, who knows. Should be fun!

    So I guess to all of you lucky people that get to be at AWA - ARG! I envy you! I love cons and I've never been to one out of state EVER - not even a Star Trek con (not that I've been to any of those either *whistles*). Hope you guys are enjoying it, getting some good pics, and planning another great con for next year when I swear I will be there! (Even though the 200 dollars I had saved is already GONE!).

    UGH! I guess I'll go edit some more video or clean something... I dunno, either project is a pain at this point but I have guests coming over and they like clean more then cool - go figure.

  • GRRRR! 2002-09-26 11:16:23 Man, this sux. Here I am, near broke, at work (feelin like I work for nothing since I'm always a day away from broke) and dieing to go to AWA! Reading up on my buddies' Journals (David Violence and SushiBoy Jared). I wonder if they realize I'm even on here? LOL! Well hey, SushiBoy, if it counts for anything, I read your journal! I wanna see that vid man. We gotta get together so I can show you my latest two lil' bundles of joy.

    Anyway! Yeah, I'm not gonna get to AWA yet another year... yeah, that really sux. Hey David Violence, better bring me back TONS of footage - I live the con through you! And Jared, lemme get a looksie at your vids sometime, wouldn't mind getting a CD of them. Heck, I may just have to go to Anime Sushi for em and drag David along, lol!

    So yeah, umm, I need to learn to proof read better. I read my journals later and say "DAYUM, I'm stupid..." as I notice all the mistakes. You see, I thought proof reading was only important when buying booze... I guess not.

    So college is getting a bit tougher, test after test after test. The college sent me a letter telling me I'm a real go getter student, so much so they want me to try their 1 year MBA program... I'm scared... Full time MBA - one year - like 6 classes a semester... What do you think?

    Oh, my latest vid project is pissing me off... It's not looking right! Whatever will I do! I've got plans to rescue it, but I dunno, it may not be worth it.

    So yeah, I'm at work, will be here till 4, wishing I could go to AWA. Having some friends over Saturday to party anyway. I can see it now, 3 AM, we are all drunk watching some warped Japanese something or other... scarey.

    Y'all take it easy and like e-mail me and stuff...

    Well, another thrilling work day and here I am at the journal! Figured I'd post another blurb of pointless blabbing that no one reads, just for kicks at least!

    So here is what's new with me. I'm lookin for a good book on Premier and After Effects. Having no formal training or experience, I'd like to get something that is in debth as can be yet not ultra-mega-uber complex for the big guys. Anyone got any good books to reccomend? There are 3 I've got my eye on - Revolutionary Premier 6, Revolutionary After Effects 5.5, and Creating Motion Video Essentials in After Effects Vol 1. Looked at reviews and content and they seem pretty extensive. Anyone have any experience with this?

    I know I know - some will say "You don't need books you noob!" Well, um, BAH to you! I may be new and dumb and all that newbie stuff yadda yadda, but I'm not about to put out 2nd rate crap that people ignore. I won't wanna spend years farting around to make a good vid. I love makin these things and I wanna do the best damn job I can possibly do. I can't get to point where I do the best job possible for me without a road map!

    Anyway, about that top thing. Well, here's the deal. I've got 2 vids in production right now - final phases of polishing up and putting in pretty effect things that are appropriate (I'm not heavy on effects, but I don't want plain video either.) So those will be done soon, got two on the boilers waiting to get started, and I want to revisit SoulTaker and at least clean it up a bit. Also have another prospective video and stuff. So basically I'm tracking 5 new vids and may revisit the ones I've done to just clean em up/re-render in better format. I think I need some mental help, yee haw!

    Oh, and I put my pic up today. Yeah, it's Walter from Hellsing. He's way cool. I got this thing for the quiet cool level dudes that go all ape doo when you mess with em. I wanna find a better pic of him though, may need to do a screen cap.

    Well, enough ranting from me. I'm hoping my local record store gets my albums in today (E Nomine baby!). Catch y'all later!

  • Counting down till I get to leave work..... 2002-09-17 16:31:04 Greetings all!

    This is my first journal entry and what better time to do it then when I'm counting down the minutes till I get to leave! Well anyway, hey there hi there ho there! Joined back in June and completed my first video in July. Lovin working with videos, lots of fun! I love watching what I make and doing obscure stuff. I also really enjoy watching other people's stuff, but alas it's hard to get a hold of, heh!
    Also been looking around the .org for buddies, found too so far. Pretty cool, pretty cool... Hopefully I'll get to work with them sometime. I'm finishing up my 3rd and 4th vids now, already ready to do my fifth video concept, with a solid 6th to follow that. Too many ideas!! Too little time!! Oh, and it's REAL interesting editing with no prior video experience, no guides, no tutorials, nothing but a program and time... But damn it's fun!!
    Well, y'all take it easy! Glad you read my little bla bla blurb. Hopefully I'll talk to more of ya more often and stuff. I hope my vids (whenever I get em up) will please everyone and appeal to my target audience :) Well, gotta go count some more minutes, hunt down more people, and stuff!
