Yeah, that lasted a while. Started my MEP track three days after finishing my last video. Eeesh!
So anyway: Why haven't 17 people done Saiyuki/PSB's "Go West" yet? Must I do everything myself around here? :P
Shows remarkable restraint on the part of Saiyuki vidders, actually. The mere thought makes me laugh like a loon. I probably won't, mostly because it's such a long series and my HD can't take it.
Still. Mmm. Cheese.

The REM Sleep project track is coming along okay, IMO. I'm going to fix a few more things and re-export the whole thing with pre-processed footage, a first for me. Oooh. That will probably take a few days just to settle all the coding and processing, so we're looking at at least another week.
Still, it's kind of scary how fast this came together. I think it's because the track is so short; there's very little dead time, and I didn't attempt to put a storyline together.
So anyway.

Oh, and what I came to the org just now to write originally:
Self, RESIST THE TEMPTATION.
Right after I finish a project I always want to rush right on into another one, 'cause I'm all gung-ho about editing.
And then I burn out. And I stop that second one halfway through.
This ALWAYS HAPPENS. I don't think there's been a time when I haven't needed a month or so to do something else between projects - except LiD and the Animix track, but that's a really really short piece.
Resist the temptation. Do something else. Don't want to burn out.

oy, so *that's* what that reviewer was talking about. TAS is at 225 on the top 10%. I was like "errr, why are you sighing about making the list?" That's it, then.
Dude, my scores on that video are crazy inflated. I think people like the song and rate the video really high because of it, even though the editing is pretty standard and the concept is like Comedy Videos 101, Fall 1997 Semester. (Don't get me wrong, I do like the video; it's just that, well, it's not *my* doing that it's funny. Buy the CD, but don't rate my video yea high because of it. I didn't write the song.)
I started a board thread whining about the score inflation problem, but decided in the end that it wasn't really worth bothering the mods about. Though it does show that the system is kind of broken. What does this mean, children? Don't put so much importance on what's on the top 10% and what's not. It's a more complicated situation than you think.

Another little project. I had fun with it. Enjoy, if you like. 'Tis uploading now; it'll be half an hour, because my upload speed always sucks. Sigh.
Anyway, I didn't expect to finish this so fast - actually, I kind of didn't think about finishing it or not finishing it at all; it just kind of happened - so it's a nice surprise.
Title: Like Me
Anime: Azumanga Daioh
Song: The Smiths - How Soon Is Now? [note: Hatful of Hollow version, edited down to 3:55]
Genre: Serious/Character Profile.
Namely, Sakaki.
It was fun.

Okay, all right... Listened to the REM project mix, and more relevantly my part - and I started to feel interested in working with this song again. (I have a ~1:30 snippet of "The Great Beyond.") I actually got chills. This is promising.
What worries me is that it's the anchor position, the last section before the credits. That's important - you need the last segment before the credits to be the absolute best. PRESSURE, dun dun!
The good news is that I'm learning a little with this video I'm working on now, and will do my best with this, which should be my next video in line (with finishing up this one, ripping and editing, it will be March before I'm done, probably). I'll do whatever I can, you know?
The bad news is that "whatever I can" still isn't very much, especially when I've heard of most of the editors before me (and I don't follow AMVing *that* closely).
But I guess there's nothing else to do but try.
