JOURNAL: SarahtheBoring (Sarah B')

  • bwahaha! 2006-08-14 00:09:34 Started my second live-action video this weekend. It's so much fun. Why is this so much fun? It's not the live-action vs. animation aspect, I don't think. Maybe because the source is short and so is the song, so I don't have hundreds of hours of clip choice to face. Maybe because there's no pressure; hardly anyone reviews/watches live-action videos from random newbs, and there's no organized feedback system.

Or maybe because the concept, audio and source are all rampantly, ridiculously, shamelessly fangirlish/fanboyish. I don't do that very often. So much fun. I should remember this. I mean, in the AMV world you are supposed to worry about your reputation. Your track record has to be sterling. People work hard to erase all notions that they ever started out badly or made a video that was less than perfect, because they're ashamed. It's not respectable to do silly fannish videos about fun things unless they're ironic.

Tch. I want explosions and opera and shit, so that is exactly what I will get. I am enjoying myself immensely. Woot.

  • Sweetness, I was only joking 2006-07-19 22:25:39 On a short Smiths tear after being reminded of "Girlfriend in a Coma," so I looked it up here too. Yay, there are more Smiths videos than I thought. But nothing with "Girlfriend in a Coma" or "Shoplifters of the World Unite," which is the one I've always wanted to use (but never had a good idea for). Or "Bigmouth Strikes Again," which is about seventeen generations of angst back from what people are using these days. SIGH ;)

I almost did an "Ask" video with Piano, when it was out in fansubs. It all seemed sweet and fitting except the chorus. Haha.

Okay, enough flashback. Um. Yes. Otakon commission! Moving along. And. Stuff. Have been editing a bit here and there, but nothing worth mentioning. Just fun things.
  • AHHHHHH 2006-07-13 21:52:07 Oh hell. I just thought of a solution for the main problem with a sequel to "The Acceptance Speech," namely that it'd need footage of a girl, and the only two girls in the series have about five seconds of screen time combined.

But you could use another series. Didn't think of that until I tried P&K.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO is this going to run into the word filter here, I wonder OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Not gonna. But it's a fun thought. Somebody else should make it. >:)
  • QC-chan 2006-07-10 23:07:43 The zooms from the beta suxored, so nyahhh. ;P

I couldn't get them right. Also I'm tired of pretending to be something I'm not, i.e. an AMV editor. It's an object lesson. In zooms.

It's not a major thing, so it's not really worth announcing. But hey, done is good!

Forgot to mention: just before vacation (and I mean just) I rented and watched Interstella 5555. Ohhh, my god. My inner ten-year-old girl ran around in circles screaming in glee the whole time. So incredibly silly. I love that album, I love AMVs (obv.), I grew up watching conventional music videos, and while I didn't watch anime back in the early 80s - not that I'm aware of, anyway - the period-piece-ness of it still makes me feel silly-nostalgic.

Funfun. I'll have to buy a copy. Such a dork. Yay.
