Dragonball: Legend of the Super Suck!
2009-04-11 18:19:13
Every Saturday, my squad and I have a movie night here in Iraq. So after we get off work we head to the "Haji" Shop and see what new bootlegged movies they have on DVD. They're usually movies that have just been released on the big screen and recorded via cam-corder.
Today I happen to see that they had Dragonball Evolution. Being an avid DB/DBZ fan (not so much DBGT, but I've seen those too) and have seen every episode at least once, this movie was a must see dispite all the horrible reviews I've read.
This particular movie did not make the movie night cut, so instead I took it to my room to watch myself after watching the new Wolverine movie. And after watching it, I can finally see why this movie sucked soooo much...
First of all, the studio banked entirely too much on Dragonball's fan base rather than attempting to make a movie worth watching. Secondly, they tried to cram way too much story in to about 75mins worth of movie. You can't squeeze 153 episodes of various story elements from Dragonball and THEN add in story arcs from Dragonball Z!!! It's WAY too much and ends up pissing off the fans and scarying away new onlookers. Thridly, worst Chow Yun-Fat movie I've ever seen, sorry, but it's true.
In conclusion, from what I saw in this movie, the studio was out to make a quick buck. I feel they've could've done a lot better had they spaced out the story telling. Nevermind the acting (which was bad by the way), had they turned this into a multi-movie platform such as, X-Men, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, etc., then not only would the flow of the movie made more sense, I'm sure more people would have enjoyed it. Instead what you have is a bunch of forgettable characters fighting over a bunch of balls o_O;
Overall, this movie was an EPIC failure!

NIPPON!!!
2009-04-07 15:27:38
With 3 months left in my tour in Iraq, I have just recieved the best news any Otaku would be excited about. My next assignment in the Army will end up taking me to Japan! So i'm really stoked to be heading to the land of the rising sun. Whats even more awesome, is I'll be living on the island of Okinawa and from what I've heard, the weathers very similar to the weather in Hawaii, where i spent three wonderful years in, can't wait to hit up some new beaches! ^__^

It's official...
2009-03-11 02:57:26
Well, no matter how I tried to slice it/edit/rearange/manipulate/etc. I just couldn't get my idea to fruition. I might as well let you know my idea since I'm not going to use it anymore.
I had intended to use the anime Bamboo Blade with the song "I'm So Sick" by Flyleaf. But no matter how many scenes I looked through, Bamboo Blade just turned out to be too much of a slice of life comedy for me to transition it to something darker. I'm sure someone else could, but I just couldn't see where to go with what I had.
On the other hand, I learned A LOT of how to work with the different features Vegas has to offer. The one down size I see so far and I'm sure I'll firgure out a solution later, but chopping down the size of video clips presented me with a problem when it came down to editing. So this is something I'll have to work on longer in my pre-production phase ^__^

AMVer Block!
2009-02-19 14:29:51
Well, it's been a good week and a half since I hit a wall on what direction I was trying to take the AMV... So instead of pushing through to try to get some insperation, I ended up watching a totally different anime that pulls away from the slice of life category...
Which sucks, becuase now I want to pull away from my original intent. Which in a way disappoints me because I really like the vid I've made thus far, but if I can't end it properly it'll ruin the vid anyways. As it stands right now, I'm going to continue, but I'm pretty close to canning the project and starting over...

what a concept...?
2009-02-12 05:58:44
I've finally made a decision on the aniem and song I'm going to use, but now that I've solidified it and converted the entire series to edit, I'm finding it harder to grab onto the concept I orginally had... Been skimming through the series a lot to find the right sences, jotting down my notes for references, and remembering why I really liked this series. The trouble is the song I've chosen fits... but not all the time. It's going to be a pretty big challenge to pull this off. Slice of life comedy anime versus depressing song. I'm not going to give away which anime and song until I've finished, but I've done an AMV along the same lines before, with "okay" results:

Unfortunately, I ended up giving that video a weak ending and had too many run-on scenes. So I'm trying everything I can to NOT do that with this new vid I'm making and at the sametime I'm realizing just how confusing Sony Vegas can be. >.<
I guess I'll just keep plugging away until I get the results I want and maybe I'll finish this video before I finish my deployment in Iraq and head back to the US. =p
