Home sick...
2009-06-23 10:32:44
It seems the shorter the time I have left over here in this huge sandbox called the Middle East, the longer the days become. I've been longing to get back home for a while now. So much so, I haven't even touched my AMV Project, which I though would past the time faster, but instead seems to get me depressed...
Maybe I'll try a project with some upbeat lyrics until I get back home... maybe after I can get a few drinks in me ^__^

Eden...
2009-06-19 13:35:40
Just saw the last episode of Eden of the East, I expected the series to stretch out longer, but I'm contempt with the ending. Especially knowing there's two movies lined up.
Two things I'd like to point out in this last episode...
1) They showed the PATRIOT Missile System in action, which is awesome because that's my job in the US Army!
2) Really has nothing to do with the episode or series itself, but I found it funny that Japan happens to be my next duty station... I hope the show isn't some sort of foreshadowing to a "Careless Monday" I may have to deal with...
On the plus side, K-ON! has an extra episode coming out!

Had the urge to go to the gym late last night and had an awesome workout... unfortunately, I wasn't able to go to sleep last night either and today's workout seemed to have suffered...

Irritants...
2009-06-15 05:43:27
Last night at around 10pm local time, the Fire Dept. swung by for their third visit to our building we've been staying at for temporary lodging. And they've been working like a swiss clock. Each night, right before lights out at 10pm when I'm already half asleep, they (the Fire Dept) have sounded the alarms to evacuate the building and it's over 200 occupants. So as I proceed with the story, keep in mind I've been fighting a cold for the past week, so my nose has been completely stuffy with a congested chest and a persistent cough (so I never really put two and two together).
The first night... fine.
The second night... come on! They even told us there's a possible irritant inside the building on the 2nd floor (which is where I stay), "but don't worry, just keep the doors and windows open to air it out and everything should be fine," they say.
The third night... ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?!? This time, they come in with all sorts of gadgets and whatnots and I over hear one of them say something about a nerve agent right before sounding the alarm for us to get out for a third night in a row. But this time around, instead of only taking 30mins before they let us back in, we didn't get work of ANYTHING until 3am!
Turned out it had nothing to do with any type of nerve agent (Fire Dept apparently didn't know how to use their equipment) and after the Chemical Unit arrived, they found it was the new partitions they had set up in the bays contained some sort of chemical that was causing people to have allergic reactions and we all had to reallocate for the night while they "cleared" the area and we all got screened by the medics.
All in all, it was a pretty miserable night >.< Luckily it wasn't anything too serious.
