  • Being home... 2009-07-14 07:00:06 Being home again feels great, I'm living my life once again! Yesterday, I finally joined the rest of the console gamers and bought me a PS3, although, I could only decide on one game at the time and that was Rock Band 2 >.<

    Not that that was the only game I wanted, the PX just didn't have much of a selection. But I also found that teaching my 4 year old son to play the Rock Band Guitar requires a lot of patience on both our parts... his ran out before mine did, so I guess I win? o_O;
  • Math always keeps you in perspective... 2009-07-07 04:18:35 Well, bored... again...

    To occupy myself, I decided to see just how much time I've spent watching anime while I've been deployed. And here's the break down:

    From the shows I've listed on my last journal entry (which is still incomplete since I realized there was a lot I got rid off that I didn't like), I've calculated the amount of time I've spent during my 455 day deployment (boots on the ground as they say) watching anime is...

    36,110 minutes
    602 hours
    25 days

    Which all in all, breaks down to around 5.5% of my "boots on the ground" time was spent watching anime from this position:

  • Finiahed yet another one 2009-07-06 12:13:00 Well, finally finished watching Ef - A Tale of Melodies. Very good anime, very moving... but I still don't think it was as good as it's predecessor Ef - A Tale of Memories. But I think that's because I absolutely loved the story they told between Renji and Chichiro. But it was still great to see how both series tied together the entire cast. Definitely worth the watch.

    With this anime down, that makes a total of 50 anime series/movies watched in my time in Iraq and Kuwait.

    It's amazing to think how much time out of my 15 months in Iraq anime has helped me kill. BTW, if it says "rewatched" next to the title, it's because I have already seen them before, but I ended watching them again.
  • journals on fire? 2009-07-05 16:15:19 I never thought the journals could be such a scary place o_O;
  • super happy terrific fun time... 2009-07-05 06:29:53 Well, we made the two hour trip again last night, only to arrive and find out the unit's convoy from Iraq got delayed by two additional hours. Plus, when they finally got there, only two our of the four buses showed, the others were late, so that was about another hour waiting on them to show up. In which time, I got to catch up with my soldiers and embrace the fact that we're finally out of Iraq and going home ^__^

    Eventually everything got situated and we escorted the buses to the proper camp and got them their tent assignments. Even bumped into my First Sergeant, who asked me if I was aware of the fact that some people call me "Sasquatch." Which could only mean one thing... he was talk to my room mate in reference to my hairy legs >.<

    We ended up getting a lot of grief from our peers since we're living the "high-life" in the better camp (which is true, we have indoor plumping lol). But regardless, we still have things we need to take care of and therefor can't join them yet. So we embarked back on your journey back to our camp. The short of the long... having left to pick them up at 6pm, we got back in time for breakfast chow at 5am the next morning >.<
