  • Army 10 Miler in Washington D.C. 2009-10-04 13:44:45 Well, finished the Army 10 Miler (ATM) in 1hr and 28mins, which means compared to last time when I ran it in Iraq, I added 5 mins to my total run time. I'm a little disappointed, but at the same time, I did just come off of my recovery period for the surgery on my nose and I know that sounds like a weak excuse (which it is), but because of it, it really didn't give me much time to prepare myself to run the ATM. Plus compared to running in Iraq with all the dirt, rock, and loose gravel, running the ATM in D.C. on the paved roads... awesomeness! Plus, the view is all but inspiring.

    HOOAH!
  • Happy Birthday! 2009-10-01 16:31:12 Yeah, its my bday. word

I found out my Dad got me a throwback jersey of Steve Young and the 49ers from their last Super Bowl back in the 94-95 season, can't wait 'til that gets here ^__^

Body is super soar, hopefully I'll be good and ready to go by the 4th for the Army 10 miler in DC
  • Finally... 2009-09-28 21:04:21 Started running again after two weeks of doing nothing... it's amazing how much one can regress in what seems like a short amount of time >.< which sucks cuz my legs are hurting now, which means this 10 miler in DC is going to almost kill me. I'm just going to have to run harder to break my legs back in and hopefully I can at least build up my distance running (since theres not to much time to build up my speed).

On a journal side note, I'd like to say congrats Code on the weight loss. What you've done is already an amazing step in the right direction. Just don't get discouraged when you hit that plateau, just remember you body will start to adjust after a while, just keep at it and you'll get the results you're looking for. ^__^
  • Yawara! 2009-09-27 11:00:07 I forgot how I came across this anime, but I remember when it was, I was in Iraq when I saw the title "Yawara!" Unfortunately, I didn't have anyway of obtaining the anime at the time. But what struck me about this anime is that it revolves around the sport of Judo. Which is a sport I played on my High School team in Hawaii and loved it! Which I guess is the reason I'm attracted to this anime. Saw the first 7 episodes last night and it looks like I'm hooked. It's an older anime circa early 1990s.

The synopsis? It's about a high school girl named Yawara, who has been trained by her 8th Dan Black Belt Grandfather (who has won the national championship 5 times) since she was 5 years old. Her grandfather has high aspirations for her entering the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona and attempts to stage her debut, while she only wants to be a normal high school girl and date boys. Of course due to her incredible skill, her grandfather's desire to control her debut, and her desire to keep her image of an everyday school girl, she attempts to hide her judo skills from the world.

It's 124 episode series, so I doubt I'll finish the whole thing, but I want to keep watching and see if she really does make it to the Olympics. I think it's a good find and would recommend this to anyone looking for a good comedy/sports anime.
