Finally, only after the BluRay release of "Avatar" (never had the chance to watch it on the big screen), I have seen the movie for myself and have two things to say about it...
Firstly, I found this movie to be leaps and bounds ahead of "The Hurt Locker," which despite being sort of a war movie (usually my cup of tea) I thought was riddled with bad story writing and even worse acting. So when it won all of those Academy awards, I really didn't think "Avatar" was gonna be much better. So plus there, I didn't feel like my time was wasted watching this movie, good stuff.
Secondly.... did anyone else find this movie as racist as I did? I mean, the Na'vi felt more like an African tribe than an alien race and the "white" man was sticking it to them! Seriously, everyone else was white... except for one scientist dude that didn't play a very big role (and I was surprise to see he didn't die) o_O: -

So I was flipping through some of the local programing offered on my basic cable package here on Okinawa when I just by chance saw this....

now my wife wants to check out all the episodes, but this series is a "re-imagining" or rather a localization version of the original show. Instead of it taking place in Hawaii, it takes place on a fictional island off of the Okinawa Prefecture.
But I guess I would have to get "premium" channels if I want to see the good anime, cuz all I've seen so far are the really kiddy type anime. - huh? 2010-04-14 05:56:04 What do you mean, I seriously thought she was gonna hop a cab and go downtown? lol
