JOURNAL: Pie Row Maniac (Kirk Fryrear)

  • 2002-05-14 20:17:22 1111 journal hits. Hur hur.

Zero: You got a PA shirt before me! Argh!! I shall have to get one anyways, because...eh, like I need to even explain. It's Penny Arcade.

I've snatched some CDs from my parents to see if any of them would work for a video-idea. One of them is Yanni (eh, so-so), Big Bands (good fast beats & swing rhythms), and Marine Corps in Concert (so-so, but at least they play the Star Wars theme on their CD ^_^). So I might have to take another look at their collection.

I have two videos to review. I don't wanna do 'em. I write the longest freakin reviews, depending on the length of the video itself. That's how you get on the most useful commentor's list, boys and girls: go through the video with a fine-tooth comb.

I've noticed a large abundance and increasing amount of FF videos lately. I'm guessing it's because the availability to use the game's FMVs are so easy. You like the game, you buy the game, you find a video idea, you learn to rip FMVs, you make video. That's why most newbie AMV creators use FF and other video games as their first videos. Again, that's my guess.

  • And then there was one... 2002-05-13 02:57:06 After looking for other AMV creators in my state, I soon realized that I'm the only one in Oregon who's in a really small town. My town (La Grande) is only about 14,000 while other Oregonian AMV creators live in metropolis-sized cities (compared to La Grande, I mean) like Portland, Beaverton, Salem and Ashland.

Right now, I feel really small and really rare. Strange, I do say. Strange.
  • Cut. Dried. Microwaved. 2002-05-12 19:12:55 Funny... I'm finding myself typing less journal entries. Maybe it's the "end-of-the-year" stuff that's keeping me busy. Right now my chore list looks a little something like this:

    -Write out graduation invitations
    -Send out graduation invitations
-Work on two sketches for last week's art class
-Make a logo for a teen pregnancy group (required art project, f.y.i.)
-Figure out a decoration for my graduation hat
-Draw a ridiculous cartoon for the school newspaper

And I think I'll get to work on in it right now. Yes-indeedy.

  • Warning: You are about to be hit by a smooth criminal 2002-05-11 00:20:35 Wow. I haven't updated my journal in a while. Okay, here's what's happened this last week that's pulled me away from my updating:

Went on a band trip on Wednesday, where our Wind Ensemble (the more experienced portion of the band) competed against a dozen other 3A bands. Before we did that though, we were taught by the awesome Thara Memory, who is an incredibly talented man with years of musical experience backing up my compliment. Anyways, the rehersal with him took three(!!) hours. The next day, we performed. We came in at 8th place, which is fine by me. We won first last year, so it was time for someone else to have their head held high. Hey at least we got 3rd place in sight-reading.

We got home at 3:30 AM (eight-hour drive), so the band teacher felt it was only appropriate that we got to skip our first three classes to get some sleep. Hell, most of us skipped the whole day. I decided to go to my 5th block class, percussion. The decision was made primarily because every year we do "Band Awards" where we vote on paper (so that it's secret) on who's been the biggest flirt, most arrogant, most improved, most entertaining, etc. throughout that entire year.

After that fiasco took place, me and two of my friends collected money from the class and went to Safeway where we deposited our newly collected funds into four boxes of donuts (it was buy one, get one free). We then came back to class to eat donuts and goof around, despite having half an hour of class left. We had a substitute teacher, so...yeah.

Also, I decided to put up Quahog Kombat again, just for, y'know, the hell of it. So have fun with that.

To be blunt, it's been a great week.
