JOURNAL: Pie Row Maniac (Kirk Fryrear)

  • Pie, you should really straighten out this whole Brothers In Arms thing. 2002-07-25 20:45:07 As a result of dumping Brothers In Arms 2 (due to unoriginality and the video going nowhere), I've simply decided to remake the first Brothers In Arms. It'll be the same stuph but with dvd quality video and much better audio quality.
Similar to Blue Star's remaking, some spots will look different but will hopefully have a better feel than their predecessor did.

Maybe this time, I'll actually finish this project, hm? ^_^

  • Discoveries of the Already-Discovered! 2002-07-25 03:18:16 I've always wanted to get the songs I see on some videos, obviously not to use in other AMVs but just for pleasure.

For example, Zerophite's "Beatufiful Place Out In The Country" uses the Opening Credits from Hybrid (a show apparently). A lovely melody that one could easily fall asleep to. Trying to find this and download it proved to be rather irritating, as I would almost ALWAYS get results regarding Linkin Park, considering their alubm is called Hybrid Theory.

After much goofing off and free time, I figured out that my switching the Sound Recorder to "What U Hear", hitting record, then playing the AMV with the desired song, I can finally acquire the much-wanted tune I've been searching for.

Yes, I know. Most probably know about this knowledge and the word "newbie" is plastered on my face right now, but finding out new things like this is always a kick for me. ^_^
  • Tacos, Pepsi and Ads, oh my 2002-07-24 20:18:11 Highs

  • No journal updates in a month!? 2002-07-23 14:17:33 Holy tofu relic, Batman!

Well let's see, what wacky antics have I been up to THIS past month. 3/4 of it have been at a camp I mentioned in earlier entries. To bring most of you up to date, I first went there as a camper at Senior High Camp. The next week I volunteered to be a Junior Counselor, or as my friend likes to be called, a Minor Counselor. Weird.
Anywayz, the camp I signed up to help with is Beginner's Camp, where our fair campgrounds were invaded by nearly 50 kids who're third to fifth graders. That was quite fun, as the perks of a counselor are quite good and almost always make up any traumatizing experience that might happen. *cough* shaving cream at 3AM *cough* Perks include free soda (3 per day limit), free food (halfway decent most of the time), and a hella lot of authority. It's all good.
The week after Beginner's, I got to go home for the week. Nothing new to talk about there. Messed around on the compter, downloaded stuff, burned CDs, the norm.
The next week after was the next camp I wanted to do. My friend (the same one who prefer's Minor Counselor to Junior :-P) said good things about it, so I figured I might as well get the experience of *gasp* Junior High Camp. This camp was pretty cool compared to Beginners. Simply put, you can relate to the campers better. These are freshman and sophomores, mostly, so you can say dirty jokes, say "hell" and "damn" (any worse curse words end up with a lecture from the camp boss), and aren't as whiny sometimes. That's one thing I can't stand: whining

After four weeks of camp hijinks, I once again came home. There I discovered one of my friends (no, not the Minor Counselor one) was going to a city five hours away to see his girlfriend and to scope out apartments. Seeing as how I went with him to the same city before (see journal entry "Road Trip") and had a good time hanging out with his girlfriend's friends there, I knew I wanted to come. Besides, I just got a nice graduation check from a family friend and I hungered to shop, at a real life mall, not online. Yes I know, prices are almost always better online but for crying out loud, there's no THRILL in doing it online.
You know it! I know it! The American people know it!!

So I went with him and got the first volume of Excel Saga and Metropolis, both of which I haven't seen yet and were highly recommended. More highlights on these two as progress endurs.
While there, we watched Clerks and Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. I tells ya, Clerks is good in general, but the ending (both the original and cut one) just plain sucked. J&SBSB however, was a whole different story. It is most definitely one of my top fives. However, you must Must MUST watch the other four movies by Kevin Smith to totally get it. And just for the kick of it all, here's the list of Kevin Smith's movie legacy in my order of most favorite to least:

    1. Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back
    2. Dogma
    3. Mallrats
    4. Chasing Amy
    5. Clerks

For those who want in on this whole Kevin Smith legacy, watch the movies in this order:

    1. Clerks
    2. Mallrats
    3. Chasing Amy
    4. Dogma
    5. Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back

    So yeah. There yous go.
