  • The End of Opus? 2002-12-01 19:43:45 Well Eva Opus managed to win 2 awards at the CSUN contest, which surprised me, for I thought I had better chance at the comedy/parody category (since I had 30% of the entries there - due to the combining of categories O_O).

So this marks the first and strangely, possibly the last time THIS (read : re-edited) version of Eva Opus is entered into a contest, to make way for newer videos. Yep although the vid was finally completed in Feb, I had great difficulty in finding a contest that would accept it, mostly due to it's length (6:17), and sometimes it's content, me missing deadlines or con 'presence' rules, hence it had to wait like 9 months for it to finally enter a suitable contest. At least I don't feel like I totally wasted the added 100 hours of re-editing I spent on it now. x.x z.z =P

Major kudos goes to Ikasu, and the people involved who ran a extra excellent contest. The recording of the contest makes it even more spiffy! Time to check out the other winners/finalist/entries. They all look good.

Come next week will see the debut of a new video, one that I'm happy to make available after some time. Stay tuned!
  • Oooh Digital Grading 2002-11-24 21:44:15 Was watching one of the features of the LOTR DVD, where they talk about digital grading and were showing off the software. Oooh I wish I had that.

Since I've recently finally finished 2 videos, and only working on one more, I'm got the time now to actively consider what can I possibly do for the 80's music vid contest. It would be a waste not to join in the fun and cheese.
  • No ideas.... 2002-11-22 10:04:09 Arruuughh. A 80's music AMV contest, how cool is that? Unfortunately I'm out of new ideas. I spent the whole morning scanning through my music collection looking to see if any ideas hit me...nothing. I know there must be something but I'm not seeing it yet.

    >_<

It's true I've made quite a few videos to 80's music, unfortunately almost none of them qualify because they were made during my non-anime era. Curses!
  • Leave is fun 2002-11-18 05:41:57 Mech Warrior 4 : Mercs

    Good : Fun, addictive play.
Bad : Took me only 1.5 days to finish the game. :(

Well that was an interesting sidetrack.

Also watched Amelie, a very nice movie.

And yes, I'm still at bug fixing mode. When I thought I finished, I found 3 unsatisfactory scenes, fixed them, rendered and then only to find 1 more scene I missed, then when I went back to fix it, there comes the curse of the feature creep, and I re-did certain parts and again I'm now awaiting the render to finish. Please let this one be the final one. x.x

  • The Polishing Continues... 2002-11-15 04:22:11 I'm still working on finishing and polishing 2 videos in parallel. If I had 1 cent for everytime I render.....

They both look a lot better for it though, and I managed to catch and squash some embarassing technical errors and improved the editing a whole lot, given the luxury of time spent on it.

Maybe I can have them finished by this week....maybe. I'll also probably make the switch to Xvid, considering how much better it looks and how compact it is, it's quite mind-boggling.

I had restricted online access the past week, mainly due to the fact that the line to my home was down for a bit. But everything's solved now, and just in time for that special day! ^_^

I also am expected to receive my copy of the LOTR 4-disc version DVD today! Whee! Double joy!
