One hundred third entry - thoughts on site members...
2006-02-27 23:35:04
Time - 9:29, Noise - Le Portrait De Petit Cossette OST - "Jewel"
DISCLAIMER: these are just random musings. Don't take offense to them, as these thoughts and opinions are subject to change. Some people were left off of this list either because I forgot them or because I didn't think they could take someone talking about them without freaking out and getting all defensive. However, since I'm going to attempt to keep most of these thoughts on the positive side (minus a select few, who should already see it coming), I hope to not rile anyone up TOO much. And with that...
trythil - oh, tryth, what a dynamic I have with you. Sometimes I think you're the most helpful, accomodating guy in the world, and other times I think you're a total asshole. Unfortunately, the latter tends to prevail over the former. To be honest, if I met you in person, I would probably deck you. For now, though, if we can just stay on opposite ends of the internet, I think I could really come to like you in time.
inthesto - perverted, relatively friendly, and sarcastic. You're like my male alter ego. It's kind of creepy. Of course, you're probably missing the severe self-loathing complex, but your odd personality really drew me in the first time I chatted with you - and it's just nice to have someone who always says "hi" when he sees me.
Ileia-chan - what a sweetheart. A sick-minded, overworked sweetheart, but a sweetheart nonetheless. You remind me of my best friend in a lot of ways, which is why I always figured we'd get along well if we met in person. Your ability to create a good video within a week baffles me to no end - not to mention your masterful manipulation of your real name into all sorts of amusing IRC usernames.
godix - a prick among pricks, but Cod DAMN are you witty. Granted, you're also very lewd, which I tend to find less and less amusing these days, but your odd sense of humor never seems to fail with me. You are just a great site member, adding spice here and there, and I wouldn't trade you for anything.
Arigatomina - <<insert adoration here>> You're just such a nice gal that I can't help but love you. You always think your ideas through, and you show a balance of practicality and passion that anyone could appreciate. I think you and I would get along extremely well if we met in person.
jubjub2 - I don't know how you got to be so loved in such a short time after you joined, but I'm glad to know you. Everything you say is encouraging, and you really have earned your title, the Queen of Hearts. It's nice to see that you have a devious side, too, which was evidenced by your times in #AMV. And don't worry. Someday I'll get that other opinion done. >_>
madbunny - XD Oh, how I love your stories. They inspire both laughter and warm fuzzy feelings each time I read them. Moreover, you just seem like such a damn helpful guy that it's hard not to like you. However, I have to hate you at least a little bit for branding William Shatner's awful readings into my head for all of eternity. x_x
SarahtheBoring - you're just so...sarcastic. It's awesome. ^_^ A long time ago, arigatomina told me to hit you up for a video request of mine that she couldn't take on, but you seemed so busy at the time that I just couldn't bring myself to pester you with it. Besides, unlike her, you didn't show any signs that you were receptive to requests. So, I just tucked away the idea for someday when I could do it myself. I'm doubting that it will ever happen, but that's okay. Your videos ideas are interesting enough that I'd rather not bug you to do one that wasn't your own.
Scintilla - extremely knowledgable, and even more talented. However, it'd be nice if you actually answered questions every once in a while, rather than constantly linking a guide with that stupid confused smiley face. You used to be really friendly, but now you just seem really blunt. Maybe I'm just interpreting it wrong...
shinodude - Spellcheck's worst nightmare! ^_~ Nah, you know I like you. I used to be really irritated by you, but at some point, you must have done something that made me think differently. Your videos are still rough around the edges, but your last one ("This is a Call") really convinced me that you have talent.
Bakadeshi - I know you probably don't read journals, but I thought I'd include you anyway. To me, you're like the equivalent to arigatomina. So talented, and so sweet-natured. You didn't let popularity go to your head really at all. And don't worry. Someday I'll make a video worth an opinion from you. It just hasn't happened yet.
requiett - and now it's time for something different. -_- I'm going to make this short and sweet. You're talented and you're an asshole. That's all.
Pwolf - *pglomp~!* o.o You're just so loveable. Although you and I have virtually nothing in common, I still really like you. But everyone has to have someone like that. ^_^
I think that's all. Like I said, I'm purposefully ignoring a few people, and I know I'm forgetting a few. Still others are not on here because I do not know them well enough. Again, try not to take this too seriously. The people I flamed saw it coming anyway, so it's not like this is anything new. Besides, there are only about three people on this site that I actually HATE - one of which is on this list. The second and third were ignored. Everyone else has their moments. Hell, I'm not perfect, so I certainly don't place myself above anyone - especially when it comes to video editing. I already know what low rung I'm perched on as far as that topic is concerned.
Anyway, I just felt like doing an entry like that. Consider it harmless musings - and if I gave you a compliment, take it while you can.
And now...I need to do something. I've been putzing around with Photoshop, and I think I'm finally getting the hang of some of the stuff it can do. w00t. To add to that, I also need to get to work on avisynth again. It's not that tough, honestly. I'm just inexperienced yet. So...nighty night, loves.

...wait. Haven't I used that entry title before? Oh yeah. That was back when I was doing a list entry, but I couldn't do the lists at the time, cuz I was lacking some references.
This entry shall be devoted to listing my top ten favorite AMVs of all time!

You're probably wondering...why doesn't she just do this in her profile? Well, it's mostly because I never keep that thing up to date. If I find a video I like, I usually just assign it some number 1-10, just to put it on the list. Besides, I wanted to share this everyone. These are great AMVs, and I would much rather share them actively this way than to just have them sit in my profile, which I'm sure no one looks at anyway.
So...I hope you enjoyed that. Take some time and download those videos. They're all nice and cozy in my permanent collection on my HD.
- Jen
PS: if you're curious, I also have 457 videos listed on my "Videos to Remember" document. I'll only keep three hundred or less AMVs at any one time, so the list became necessary when my downloads went up.

One hundred first entry - Auction is CLOSED!
2006-02-23 00:16:29
Time - 11:15, Noise - absolutely nothing
Well, the Queen of Hearts, jubjub2 herself, has taken the offer! Sorry folks, the free opinion is GONE. It's OVAH!
- Jen
PS: ...now if I could just finish that OTHER opinion I owe her... >_<

One hundredth entry - Celebration
2006-02-23 00:08:48
Time - 10:52, Noise - Sigur Ros - "Saeglopur"
*points to the song* Blame Atom X. He's the reason that I know and very much like that song. ^_^
Anyway...how does one go about celebrating his or her one hundredth act? I thought...maybe I should make a little AMV for it...nah, too pointless. Nobody really cares. Then I thought...well, maybe I should make a one hundred item list for something...again, not too interesting. Besides, the only list I could possibly make would either be every videogame I've ever played (which I'm not sure QUITE adds up to one hundred, but I know it's not far off), or my top 100 favorite songs. Nah. So...I thought...and I thought...and finally...I decided, that among writing an entry with a lot of this ("...") crap, I would put forth something I was already familiar with. Something I loved. Something that would be interesting.
That said, I present to you "Possessive Compulsive," one of my favorite poems that I've ever written.
Rain beats down upon your face
It’s ripped away your beauty and grace
I’ve broke your will, I’ve made you frown
When you stand up, I knock you down
You take the hit, accept the fall
You break your descent against the wall
From your eyes I see tears leak
You hold your tongue; you do not speak
On hands and knees you scramble away
I stalk as if you were my prey
A hunter’s thrill is in my breast
I shove my boot onto your chest
You lay so still as I bend down
To wipe the blood off of your crown
A feral grin is on my lips
As I lean down into a forbidden kiss
Your lips, they part, beneath my own
In shameful pleasure you release a moan
I lift myself, the wind in my hair
I walk away and, broken, you stare
Above the noise, above the rain
I hear a sound, so full of pain
I keep turned away, to be a tease
You whimper and shiver and whisper “please”
You stumble your way and rise to your feet
My glee returns, my possession’s complete
With a liquid step, I turn you way now
A look of disgust furrows my brow
You look so pathetic and I feel my eye twitch
As you call me a slut, a masochist, a bitch
“But that’s why you love me,” I say with a sigh
“You’re such a bad boy and you shouldn’t have lied”
I call you dirty, I call you a whore
But you just look away and ask for more
Innocent now, my hands at your face
You raise your head up and then close the space
My arms are a shelter for your crying eyes
A bolt of lightning cracks through the skies
You ask me why in the softest voice
I must answer this; I have no choice
“Because you are mine and you need this”
I seal the words with another kiss
“Though I am a hunter, it’s in me you confide
So come in, my love, come back inside”
With tearful eyes and a pained frown
The blood still seeps from off your crown
A twisted love is what we share
And though I’m a hunter, I still do care
You’ve survived my wrath, and this your eyes boast
And this is the reason I love you most
For I am the one who controls this dance
But you’ll take the lead if I give you the chance
As always, you’ll forgive what has happened today
For what is a hunter without it’s prey?
Well, I hope you liked that. And, as a special bonus, if you took the time to read through all of my entry, one lucky journal junkie will get a totally free opinion on any video of his or her choice! Just PM me with a link. Since I assume this'll happen within the hour (meaning, before I go to bed), I'll try to post another entry right away once I receive the PM.
Because it's been a long time since I've said this...
Farewell, Good Luck, and Happy AMV-ing!
- Jen
PS: the op will be written after my classes tomorrow. ^_~

Ninety ninth entry - so close...
2006-02-22 20:18:45
Time - 6:47, Noise - Silent Hill 4: The Room OST - "Melancholy Requiem"
Well, I feel accomplished. I just spent quite a while adding videos to the Recommended AMVs forum. I made the first entry for Noir, a bunch of videos for X, and then I updated my list for Japanese Game Videos. The X and Japanese Game Videos sections are still a work in progress though, because I haven't yet sifted through the videos I don't keep on my hard drive. I have this huge list of them now, and it just keeps growing as I watch more good AMVs.
But I'm a bit tired now from all that typing and researching of the video info. I was playing Silent Hill 4 earlier (purposely trying to get the two bad endings, since I already got the two good ones), but I'm not really in the mood for it now. I just finished my fanfic, so I'll have to brainstorm another idea before I can start writing again. Well, that's a lie. I already have plenty of ideas. It's just a matter of figuring out how to start them. And I do have one or two fics in progress, but they're just snippets.
The obvious question here is 'well, why don't you work on your video?' I got frustrated with it, that's why. I only did the first ten seconds, but they didn't come out anything like I wanted. I know exactly how I want the video to look, but it's just not doing what I want it to. I wish I could get back the Elfen Lied video I was working on. But of course not. I just knew that switching HDs was gonna fuck something up. Figures that it would have to be my half-finished video. However, I did take care to save a low quality copy of my video every once in a while, just to see how it was coming along. I could recreate the video, using that copy as a reference...but it just took so long to do in the first place. I know how long it takes to recreate a video, because I've had one corrupt like this before - and that was a very simple video! Trying to do stuff with effects again? Forget it. I would get half a minute in, and then say "fuck it. No more AMV-ing for me."
Which brings me to my next point...I'm beginning to wonder if I'm really interested in making AMVs at all anymore. Now, now, don't all protest at once. : / Yet, I have to wonder...if I don't make them anymore, then am I EVER going to see a good video to some of the videogames I play? I mean, I KNOW that something like Devil May Cry is a game lots of people play. So...why so few videos? And for that matter, why aren't there any good ones? I mean, it was a heavensend when Castor Troy made his RE4: "Die Another Day" video. (And while I'm an enthusiast for videos like VG3, that tends to use games relatively before my time.) It's just...frustrating. At the rate I'm going, I'll be lucky if I make a single video this year. Then again, at the rate the .org's going, I'll be lucky if I EVER see a good DMC video uploaded.
Of course, this would all be made easier if I knew a damned thing about technology. It seems like for every question I answer, five more pop up. It's all I can do to clutch EADFAG tightly and hope to Cod that it has the solutions.
Speaking of which, I should probably be making some vain attempt to learn Avisynth again. I have the basics from what the guides have been walking me through, but I still don't know how to do some other stuff.
That being the case, it's about time I stopped writing. I wonder if anyone actually reads these things anymore...
