JOURNAL: 7sigma (Pedro Simões)

  • Sometimes we DO get work done 2004-07-16 01:43:11 I've finished my "Digital Sakura" video, and I'm already starting a new one. Feedback for DS hasn't yet arrived, but I don't think it will be very good, as it was mostly a learning video. I do like it, though.

For the next video, I'm raising the bets. I've found a nice instrumental music from a brazilian band (I have a burning desire to see brazilian bands on AMVs). However, as the video editors among you might know, instrumental songs are a real pain to edit.

READFAG is indeed helping a lot, but I foresee lots of work. Good thing I've already edited the song so it's just over 1.5min. Couldn't handle another 3min. AMV (Actually, thinking backwards, that WAS a mistake).

I hope people watch both my videos and leave a review, even if it is to tell me how crappy it was. Hey, I'm trying to improve, here.
  • I'm not dead yet 2004-04-22 20:27:50 Yup, I'm alive and well (though tired).

I've failed to finish my video during vacations, and there is no way I can do it while I'm studying. June should be soon enough, anyway.

I will make a couple banners for next week, the new ones I've seen are terrible. These guys need some lessons from a pro... not me, of course!

I'm not really in the mood of writing... I'll try later, when my brain returns to its proper place.
  • Idle 2004-03-01 09:38:30 Well, last week of laziness is passing by, my Sakura video has already 1.5min+ of fine editing, I can't listen to Daft Punk anymore... pretty much what I expected. I'm sooo bored right now. See you later.
  • If he can... 2004-02-26 16:37:51 About my ongoing Sakura project, I just saw something that made me feel more confident about it.

    It's Kevin Caldwel's Believe.

Basically a kick ass video from a lame anime series.

Of course, I'm not Kevin (and I have'nt kidnapped him like Ian, either), but if he can do it so fine, maybe I can do something cool too... right?
  • Like a Virgin... 2004-02-26 11:53:15 ...in video editing, that is.

It's my last two weeks of laziness, so I decided to produce something out of it. Dozens of hours of READFAG (Reading ErMacs and Absolute Destiny's Friendly AMV Guide) later, I gathered enough courage to make a video. Looking at available footage, I find a couple of Vampire Princess Miyu DVDs a friend borrowed... crap. The other option, a Card Captor Sakura DVD I bought from a magazine... crap. In my best mood, I decided to give a chance to my friend Sakura, since Miyu is sooo boring. The thing is, the movie is cool! Not Akira-like cool, of course, but kawaii-cool, if you know what I mean. I said to myself: "Well my friend, beggars can't be choosers!", and here I am, making a pretty nifty video of CardCaptor Sakura and... Daft Punk. "Daft Punk and Sakura? WTF?", you might say. Well, let me explain my concept for the video:

Video Footage: Card Captor Sakura: The Sealed Card
Sound: Daft Punk - Digital Love

Now, if you don't remember, here are the lyrics of Digital Love:

Last night I had a dream about you
In this dream I'm dancing right beside you
And it looked like everyone was havin' fun
The kind of feeling I've waited so long

Don't stop come a little closer
As we jam the rythm gets stronger
There's nothing wrong with just a little little fun
We were dancing all night long

The time is right to put my arms around you
    You're feeling right
You wrap your arms around too
But suddenly I feel the shining sun
Before I knew it this dream was all gone

Ooh I don't know what to do
    About this dream and you
I wish this dream comes true

Why don't you play the game ?

So my concept is simple: Sakura is dreaming about her and Shaoran, with other people around to mark the rythm (this part of the video is footage from the theater scene of the movie). Some lyrics are lip-synched with either Sakura or Shaoran. Then, the card appears and destroy everything ("this dream was all gone..."). Then Sakura appears almost crying, looking at the sky and such, saying "Ooh, I don't know what to do...". The rest of the music is instrumental, including an awesome guitar solo, during wich there are scenes of Sakura fighting the card (as well as the cards from the beginning) until she at last triumphs and jump at Shaoram saying "I love you!"

Now is that cute or what?

I know a Cardcaptor video is almost artistical suicide (like DBZ and Linkin Park), but since this is my first video, I don't have much footage available and I managed to get such a nice concept, I will take it to the end (wich might as well be a couple months later).

Hope you like it (or at least watch it!)
