  • Saturday, August 14, 2004 2004-08-14 20:21:31 It sure has been a long time since I've been here. Life has been very strange to me since I've last written. High school ended with a couple of AP Tests and a huge graduation party that was pretty cool. The three weeks I had of summer consisted of me working concessions at a local amusement park and crashing at friends' houses for random nights of fun. Oh ya, and a lot of fireworks.
Come July 30th, though, I left Utah and came to Colorado Springs to the great Air Force Academy that I inprocessed to on July 1st. The first 6 weeks was Basic Cadet Training, not that fun. Then this week was our acceptance parade signifying that we were officially part of the cadet wing. Now classes have started up. We actually had classes today, in fact. On a Saturday no less. Anything is possible here.

Well today was the last day that we were at Cole's Cabin. We got up today and made a big huge breakfast. Cole cooked pancakes, Mark cooked eggs, and I cooked bacon. We all ate and then started playing some more Counter Strike. After a while we all started to pack and we were out of there by about 3:00. Nate rode with me on the way home. The ride home was pretty uneventful and boring, not as fun as the ride up. Anyway, I got home, then I cleaned my room and I set up my computer and it was really ticking me off and being slow and crappy, so I installed some antivirus software and found more than 20 viruses, adwares, and spywares, it really made me mad. Anyway, that's all cleaned up now, and that's about it.
  • Sunday January 18, 2004 2004-01-19 22:36:40 Sunday January 18, 2004
Well, we just got done playing a couple games of Counter-Strike. It was pretty fun, ofcourse there was a lot of yelling, name-calling, and whining as usual, but it was still fun. This morning I woke up a little before 9:00 so we could go to church. Steve and Nate were still getting ready, so I took Mark in my van and left. He and I got there just in time for the sacrament. It was a pretty good service. Everyone else said they came in right after they administered the bread, but we didn't see them there.
After church I dropped Mark off at the cabin and I went off for a drive. It was pretty nice. I put on some piano music from Jim Brickman and drove all the way around Bear Lake. It was really cold and sunny, and everything was covered in white snow. In fact, when I woke up and went up stairs I was blinded by the sun reflecting off the frozen, snow-covered lake. It was REALLY bright.
Anyway, I drove north and then went to the Bear Lake North shore. I got out on this bridge and watched the water for a while. It was really cold, and the running water produced a lot of mist. I couldn't help but wish that Echo were there with me. Then I went and drove down the East side of Bear Lake. It's not nearly as developed over there and there was a lot more open country and scenery. I saw a whole lot of deer over there also, but they were all does. It was really nice and peaceful. Once I started to get near the south shore there, I was getting really hungry and I had already seen that part of the lake, so I just hurried back.
Today was a little on the boring side, though. We played Counter-Strike for a long time, then everybody just started playing there own games. There was some Star Craft going on as well as War Craft, and Half Life, and Cole was playing Final Fantasy VII. I was just doing stuff on my computer, and then took a nap around 6:00. I woke up at like 9:00, but it felt like 3 in the morning. Nate was playing Zelda, so I went upstairs to find Cole and Dave talking next to the fireplace. I joined them and we were talking a lot about child hood memories and elementary school and stuff. Then we played the Counter-Strike games I mentioned above, and after that we were eating in the kitchen. After a while, Dave, Nate, and I started playing around with an Eggo Waffle box like it was a hacky sack. Ya, I can't really explain half the stuff we do up here, it's all really spontaneous and fun. Except I tried to slide on the tile floor and fell really hard on my hip, so I decided to come down here and type in my journal. So that's it for now.

Dang, it's almost been two weeks. I'm horrible at trying to keep up with this. Oh well, I'll try to pick up where I left off. Nothing great happened on Monday the 5th that I can remember. On Tuesday, Echo and I went sledding at Lomond View Park. On Wednesday, I don't remember much happening. I didn't get to talk to Echo at all for some reason. I think I stayed up really late Tuesday night doing homework or something, so I went to sleep as soon as I got home. On Thursday, we had a wrestling meet at Viewmont. The JV team did horrible, out of the 20 or so matches for JV, we only won about 4 or 5. But, good news is that one of those wins was mine. I pinned my match in the third period, so I was pretty content. Varsity lost by one match. I got home at about 10:30 or something like that, and after I scarfed down a couple of sloppy joes to fill my empty stomache (since I had cut weight), I called Echo even though it was really late. It was nice to talk to her again, and she seemed to appreciate it.
I don't remember anything from Friday, except that when I was talking to Echo, we made plans to spend almost all of Saturday with eachother. So I got up Saturday morning, and my parents said I had to clean around the house, so I cleaned. I was planning on leaving around noon or so, but when that time came around, they still wouldn't let me go, they said I still had to clean a bunch more. Well that went on for like four more hours and we got in this big fight and they finally let me go I think to just get rid of me. So I didn't make it down to Echo's until like five or so in the afternoon.
We had planned to see the sunset and stuff, but it was too late and I was in a really bad mood because of my parents, but after being with her for a while, I was cheered up. She seems to have this strange ability to cheer me up no matter how crappy a day I've had. Anyway, she took me to this Mexican restaraunt in Layton called Garcia's. She said she got extra credit in one of her classes for going. It was alright, I had a cheeseburger, so it wasn't very Mexican, I really don't care too much for Mexican food.
After Garcia's we went over to R.C. Willey's just to walk around and look at their stuff. We sat in these massage chairs for a while and then went into this sound room where Freaky Friday was playing. We watched that for a while then walked around some more. After we were done walking around, we drove to Tinseltown to see a movie. It was really really foggy, so everything looked really cool.
We saw Cheaper by the Dozen with my gift card that I got for Christmas. It was a pretty funny movie and it cheered us both up. It sounded like she didn't have a great day when she was home either. After the movie, we went over by the park and just sat and talked for a while.
On Sunday, I just went to church and did a little bit of homework. I dreaded going back to school on Monday so much just because my grades aren't all that great and my classes are starting to get really repetitive and boring. On Monday, nothing much out of the ordinary happened that I can remember. Tuesday was pretty much a blur, too. Except for after school, I had to do this huge English project on a book that I was supposed to read but didn't. So I stayed up all night doing this project and reading chapter summaries so I knew the basic outline of the story. I fell asleep in the middle of it around two in the morning, and woke up at like eight to finish it. I missed the first two periods of the day finishing that stupid thing, and when I got to school, I didn't even have to present it because there was no time. I hadn't talked to Echo a whole lot Monday or Tuesday because I was working on that, but I stilled managed to squeeze in a couple conversations with her.
Wednesday after school and wrestling practice, I talked with Echo on the phone a little bit, but then she had to leave for mutual. Then I think I just went to bed pretty early. Thursday, our wrestling meet was at Weber against Layton, Echo's school. So she came up with A.K. and Dan. They saw me wrestle. I did horrible, I was pinned in the first period. Then I found out later that the kid I wrestled was in our group for Layton's Harvest dance, I guess that's why he kinda looked familiar. Anyway, it was pretty embarassing since I lost so quickly and Echo knew him.
After my match, Dave and Chelsea came and we all watched the Varsity matches. About half way through them, Echo and I got up and started to walk around the school. First she wanted to see my locker and what pictures I had up in it. The day before she was saying how much she was in the mood for hugs, so I said to her that she'd better be like that Thursday, and she said she would be, so we hugged a lot Thursday as we were walking around the school. I really like just walking around and talking with her, especially when we hug a lot, too.
Anyways, after the meet was over, I took her home and we stopped for shakes at Burger Stop in Layton. So we went over to the park again and ate them and just talked for a while. I took her home, and then I headed home. I took left from North Ogden around 9:30, and I didn't get back until around 11:30, so my dad questioned as to what took so long, but I didn't really get in any trouble. Later, Echo told me that her parents were a little mad at her because she had come home so late, and they couldn't get a hold of her.
Well, yesterday, Friday, was just an awesome day. First, I didn't have to present my project again because time ran out before they got to me. Then, the wrestling team had a tournament up at Box Elder, but there was only 1 Varsity and 1 JV spot for each weight, and I had lost a challenge Tuesday for the JV spot, so I wasn't going to it. Well when I went to 8th period for my conditioning class that Coach Warren teaches, I couldn't get into the wrestling locker room to change because it was locked, so I just had my dad check me out and I went home. Plus I didn't have to go to practice because they were all at that tournament. We had all been planning to go to Cole's cabin, so I was getting ready for that. My parents let me take the van up, so I could leave whenever, really. Well, since I didn't have to go to wrestling practice, and I had the van and an excuse to be gone for the weekend, I decided I would try to see Echo that night. I tried calling her after school, but her mom had the cell phone, and someone was using the internet with her home phone, so I couldn't get ahold of her. But around six o'clock or so as I was packing up and getting ready to leave, she called, so I asked if she wanted to do anything, and she did, but she had to go to some family scrap booking party for a little bit. So I left giving my parents the impression that I was headed up to Cole's cabin, and I headed down to Layton. I was waiting at the mall for her to call me saying that she was back from the party. She called and we met up, and we went and ate at Burger Stop. We then went to go see the movie The Home Teachers. It was a really funny movie and afterwards we went over to her house. We were talking and I told her that I was just planning on either heading straight up to the cabin or stopping along the way to sleep in the van. She told me she really didn't want me to drive so late at night when I was so tired, and she didn't want me sleeping somewhere in the van, so she convinced me to spend the night at her house. She made sure it was alright with her parents, and they didn't have any problem with it, so I stayed.
We watched Charly at around 11:30. It's a pretty good movie, kind of a chic flic, but it was still good. After that, Echo got me a pillow and blanket and I slept on the couch downstairs (her room is upstairs, so nothing at all happened, shame on you for thinking that). I slept pretty good, but I woke up a couple times during the night, and I was really confused when I woke up because I forgot how I got there. But I woke up at around 7 in the morning when her dad was getting ready for work. I realized that I had to move the van so that he could get out, so I got up and moved it, then tried to go back to sleep. I couldn't get back to sleep very well, so I went out to the van and dug out my scriptures and read a few chapters and then went back to sleep. I finally woke up around 10 or so when Echo's little sister Carli was up and about. I was just kinda sitting there for a while not knowing what exactly to do, like if I should leave, or wait for Echo, or what. But then Echo came downstairs, and we just sat with each other until her mom moved the van so I could leave. She really didn't want me to go, but ofcourse I still did. I did get a goodbye kiss from her when I left, though.
I was really looking forward to the drive up. I don't know why, but I love driving long distances by myself. I guess it's because of all the times I drove out to Lagoon for work. I blasted my music and sped so much. It took me about two and a half hours to get from Layton to Bear Lake. I stopped in Logan for food at an A&W's restaraunt, it was pretty good, they have really good fry sauce. I had a blast driving through Logan canyon playing my music and cruising through there. It was a beatiful day with not many clouds in the sky, and there was snow everywhere, so it was really scenic. When I finally got to Cole's cabin around 2:30, I set up my computer and we started playing Counter-Strike and stuff. Cole, Nate, and Steve came up Friday night in Cole's Forerunner, so they had all their stuff set up and everything. Dave came up just a little while after I did, and Mark got here later on in the night. I'm up here right now just typing this up passing time. Right now, Nate's playing Warcraft III, Cole's playing Final Fantasy VII, Mark's asleep on the couch, Steve's upstairs playing Half-Life, and Dave is in the master bedroom sleeping. Dave and I went and lit off a couple fireworks on the golf course earlier this night, it was pretty fun. Well, I think that's all that is worth mentioning up to this point, I'll try to keep this updated with anything else I do.

Let's see, I left of on Friday. Friday night I had practice from 4 to 7 in the evening. I had a physical right before that since I couldn't wrestle without one. After I got home I went over to Nate's house because they were having a LAN party. I had to wrestle Saturday, so I didn't bring my computer or stay the night. We played a few games of Counter-Strike. I played on Nate's computer because he was upstairs doing something with Tiffany. We had tons of fun.
I left at around 1:30 a.m. and went straight to bed. The next morning I went over to the high school for the big Top Gun wrestling tournament. I had to be there at 8. There were no weigh ins for the Weber kids, so I wasn't hungry or anything, it was really cool. I waited around forever until my match was finally called.
The first kid I wrestled was from Hillcrest High. I was loosing to him 0 to 4 at the beginning of the third period. I had choice that period so I choose nuetral. Right at the start, I took him down in a head throw and pinned him. It was pretty cool. Except during the first period he kneed me right in the nose and it started bleeding everywhere.
For my second match, I wrestled a kid from Union High. This time I was leading into the third period. About thirty seconds into it, I pinned him, too. I can't really remember how, though.
Anyway, I got first place (out of three people, oh well). Then after that, I took my computer over to Nate's because the LAN party was still going on. I was there until about 11:30, then I came home. I didn't talk to Echo all day Saturday, which was kind of depressing. But she did get on messenger after midnight, and we talked for a little bit then.
Then this morning, I didn't have church until 1. But somehow I slept in until quarter after one, and I didn't feel like going, so I didn't. It's really weird, because I never sleep past noon, I hate it, but somehow I did today. I really do hate missing church, and now I've just been sitting around all day. So that's pretty much what happened to me the last couple days.
