Hey, I'm "pet photographer boy" this weekend, so you know there'll be piccies.
Too bad I couldn't finish my effing video in time for the contest, but what the hey.

Next Video Idea

E K: You have awesome taste in music, and I'm not just saying that because you like P.G. and old Genesis stuff. (Epping Forest... woo!)
Speaking of which: There are two artists that I absolutely must use for my next two videos. One is Genesis, the other is Midnight Oil.
It will be done, oh yes, it will be.
Just to be extra geeky, I won't use Phil-era Genesis. It'll either be nice old Peter stuff, or I'll use a track from CAS. Hey, Ray needs a little love too.
As for the Oils, it doesn't matter what I use, it'll be damned cool. All kinds of Midnight Oil tracks lend themselves to our kind of work. Just you wait and see, baby.

Yes, it's about bloody time. It took me weeks to get around to finishing the last 80 seconds of the video.
I'm interested in what kind of "professional" feedback I might get, especially for my bit of experimental tinkering early on. (The non-professional feedback has all been good. Take that with as large a piece of salt as you see fit.) It's the kind of trick that is either going to really work or really suck, and I'm too close to the video to objectively tell which it is. I suppose I'll find out, won't I?
Now to write up the appropriate journal entry on my own website...

No longer do I suck.

Because, dammit, I finally put several good hours of work into my video! Yes, it's gone from 90 seconds to a whopping 2 minutes 45 seconds completed. Not bad for a 4 minute some-odd project.
I'm not pushing the boundaries as much as I'd like, but I think that's partly due to the combination of materials. This song and that movie don't go together quite as well as I'd originally thought, but I'm committed now. Or at least ought to be, most likely. Since this is a "by request" project, I intend to finish it off and get it out the door so I can start thinking about my next project.
The one good bit of "experimental" footage, however, is still in and I'm still quite happy with it. I look forward to the one or two opinions I'm likely to get for it... ;-)

Progress Report - Blatant Rip From Own Website
2003-01-05 14:13:43
As stated on my website (http://greyduck.net/) today:
You might remember that a stated goal of mine for December was to complete my next AMV, a project I undertook at the request of one of my coworkers. That obviously didn't happen, but all is not lost. The most crucial 41 seconds (give or take a second) of the video is now locked in...
If this works it will be far and away the coolest video I've made, even factoring in that I'm using two "overused" sources. So far I'm thrilled with how the crucial centerpiece has turned out. (I can now proceed to build the rest of the video around it. No worries.)
