  • Fuck the bullshit opinion system. 2005-03-21 14:27:42 I downloaded the previous session of RDS radio since I missed the first 40 min and some of the Wonka and Bayo interviews and I would have to agree with them that the .org is becoming extremely competitive and amv makers just want to show off what they can do rather than making something they want. To be honest, I haven't been keeping up alot with the amv scene as opposed to VG3 and other videos people have recommended to me. I would also agree with Wonka and Bayo that..

The opinion system needs to die a bloody death

Here's one of my opinion sob stories... My friend (Who I want to keep private) wanted me to op one of his videos back in the day and he told me to be completely honest and not give him all 10's and stuff. So I gave my honest review and he went totally apeshit on me. Plus the fact when I used to ask him for ops, he never gave them to me and always expected me to give him ops. When I was still new to the site, I expected ops like everyone else but as time went by, I was seeing more and more op begging rather than amv making and lots of broken op promises which made me sick to my stomach. I do admit I used to be intimidated seeing people with higher op numbers than me back in the day but now I can just go to the top 10% and laugh it all off. I'm finally glad I beat the op bug which still continues to consume people even today.

I think Kusoyaro said on the forums once that ops were currency on the .org. Nearly every post on the amv announcments is pretty much "Watch my video and op it!". I tend to steer clear of the op exchange forum because it's become nothing more than a penis growing contest and everyone wants to have the biggest one.

I have beat my own op demons but I am irritated that people are making videos now just to raise their op count and scores. I remember being flamed a few years back because the same "friend" I mentioned earlier said his scores were better than mine which made him a god. Gee... no wonder I never talk to him anymore...

I would agree with Kai Stromler that the op system be removed and make it a general feedback post thing... but then everyone would beg for feedback posts so I would recommend that people can catalog their videos with no scores and leave the feeback to be posted in the forum or any other method. But, no, it's not going to happen because people will leave the site when they can't get their 75 online friends to give them all 10's on their videos.

I will admit right now that I've only recieved one op from a good friend I know very well and none of my other friends. Do I have something against my other friends? Hell no. I respect my friends for being good amv creators. Not the fact that they give me ops or not.

I prefer more real time, in your face feeback like aim, chats, and especially in person. A simple "nice video" said to me at a con will beat a long 200 page opinion by someone I'll never meet any day. I barely ever ask for feedback anymore. I just paste a link to my video and tell people to enjoy.

I wish everyone would stop caring about the damn opinion bullshit system so much and just make some damn videos they actually enjoy doing.

Man, it feels good to get this off my chest.
