  • 2004-08-18 02:52:40 I can't believe I was so worried. I can't believe I thought my parents wouldn't support my dreams of becoming a manga-ka..... Was I really that scared? To not believe that my parents wouldn't always always be there for me....

    Let's rewind to about 2 hours ago.....

    -My parents came home around midnight after being out since 6. -
    Kaba: Wow! You must've eaten a lot since you were gone so long. ((He's only 9)) -runs off to say hi to my mom, who's in the kitchen-
    Me: -hugs my dad and whispers- Yeah, either that or you spent most of that time at the Martini Bar.
    -Mom ambles off to bed, my dad wrestles a lil with Gaki and Kaba until Cased Closed comes on, and they ran upstairs to watch it. At this point in time, my dad is leaning against the wall, whooped from being mugged by Gaki ((I kid you not, she stole all his change.)) He beckons me over, and I comply.-
    Me: So, where'd you go?
    Dad: -grins- Martini Bar
    Me: HAH! I was right! -Triumph!-
    Dad: -pulls me into a hug and I lean against him- You'll be OK going to West next year?
    Me: Yeah.... Logically I should. Since, nobody like me at East last year, why would they like me this year? And I'm on the other side of town, so I'd hafta wake up really early and take two buses to go to East, It's just not worth it....
    Dad: -nods- You know... to become an Optometrist... -ambles on about what classes I should take and what extra stuff I should do-
    Me: -avoids eye contact by shielding my eye's with my hair- 'What if I don't want to be an Optometrist?'
    Dad: ................You know..... its also fine if you don't want to be an Optometrist. You have awhile to decide if you want to do something else.
    Me: 'Is he reading my mind??'
    Dad: You can be whatever you want to be.
    Me: 'But..... this is about drawing for a career.....'
    Dad: If you want to be an artist that's fine... if you want to be an Optometrist thats fine.
    Me: 'OK, he's SO reading my mind.'
    Dad: I don't care what you do. I mean, I do care, but its your choice. I'm not going to tell you what you can and can't do.
    Me: -smiles widely- 'How is it that he always tells me just want I wanna hear?'
    Dad: So... do you have any ideas what you want to be?
    Me: No.... not really.
    Dad: -grins- So... do you have any ideas what you want to be?
    Me: -laughs with him- 'I'm just going to tell him...'

    So I tell him about Tokyopops Rising Stars Of Manga contest and what I place to do and everything. And he just nods and smiles, totally understanding and not trying to talk me out of it! I never felt so happy before.... I shouldn't of ever doubted that he'd be anything less that supportive of me. I know he'll tell my mom what I told him, but I also know now that she'll support me too.

    As I'm typing this to you, I'm listening to my fav song, The Remedy by Jason Mraz. Part of the chorus is "I won't worry my life away..." And I've always tried to be like that. Just trying to let my feet walk me down the path of life, and not really worry about it.

    Then, I realized that it was kinnda hypocritical of me to idolize after this song, then turn around and worry what kinnda life I'm going to lead, which is still years away! This is a good learning expierence for me, lol. After all, you live you learn, ^__^.

    Besides, nothing in my future is decided until I submit an entry to The Rising Stars of Manga Contest next year... or maybe even next next year... who knows? The thing I do know is that, whatever I do, my parents will be there for me, which means more to me than the world.

    Yeah I know.... cheesy. But whatever. Tomorrow I'll write to you about my crazy week, since I'm about to keel over from tiredness now.

    I am soo sorry!! I had no idea I went this long without writing to you! But in all honesty, not a lot has been happening.... ^__^;

    My dad got a laptop, and I AM SOOOOO JEALOUS!!! Spurred by that inspiration ((or just extreme jealousy)) I've decided that every form of money I make, I will half. One half I'll tuck away, the other half I'll buy whatever. Eventually all that tucked away money will help me get a laptop! My parents are considering buying me one if I make all A's utnil x-mas, since thats when I'm gonna ask for one.

    You know that in 6 months I'll be sweet 16? Talk about speedy time! It feels like just yeseterday I turned 15.... great, now I sound like my grandma...-_-

    Both my sis's, Gaki and Astrid ((Harubi changed her nickname to Astrid)) Gaki's is on the 23 of August while Astrid's is the 7th of September. I think I'm gonna draw Astrid with her best friend and her boyfriend.... cuz I think she'd like that.

    OOOH! You know what you have to do, yes HAVE to? You have to check out the stories I posted on fanfiction.net. I have a Yu Yu Hakusho one, a Fruits Basket one, and 2 Dragon Knights. You should totally look me up, my screenname is Kage Ohkami ((aren't I original?)) Please go check it out! I have to warn you though, their site might be down. Their having some problems that might last till the end of the week.

    -shrugs- I guess thats all, told you that there's nothing going on, lol.

    HOLY SHIT!

    No I'm kidding, lol. I just realized I haven't updated in over a week, heehee...oops? In all honesty, nothing interesting has been happening. Only the last two days have been at least slightly exciting. But first, allow me to tell you a few medicore things I didn't think should be an entire journal entry ((Though it most likely will become an entire paragraph, hee....))

    Let's see.....oh yeah, I GOT MY YU YU HAKUSHO BOX SET!!!!! And it's sooo cool!! I can't believe I actually watch the edited version! I just realized how much it REALLY sucks after seeing the box set and comparing the two. Like, in their first fight, the edited version mentioned nothing about the way alcohol increases Chou's powers. ((I think that's how you spell his name....?)) It pissed me off so bad! But, it's in the past now, and I have the un-edited box set, so I'm happy!

    Ok, what else....? OH YEAH!! Ok, my FAVORITE manga-ka is Ohkami Mineko, author of Dragon Knights. So, while I was surfing the web I found another promising book by her!! It's called Lumen Lunae, and looks SO AWESOME!!! It's shonen-ai, but I've read so much fanfiction on the stuff I can't get it outta my mind. It's also only in Japanese, but that's ok, cuz I bet I can still follow the story just by looking at the pictures. Yeah, I'm gonna buy it, Japanese or not! Heehee. There's only 5 of them, but that's probably for the better, since I'll have to order them off the internet, so its gonna cost me a lil more than normal. ((S&H))

    Speaking of random, I know I usually don't type like this, but I got into this fanfiction craze after reading a bunch of them off of Fanfiction.net, so I was typing a lotta stories, and just got into the habit of typing like this. Probably easier for you to read too, now that you know where my sentences begin and end, lol.

    Ok, now onto the more exciting news! Harubi and I decided we should make flyers and pass them out, advertising us as baby-sitters. Well, that was a few weeks ago, but on Monday, we finally got a call!It was from this woman with 2 girls, 6 and 9, and she wanted to interview us on Tuesday, to see if she wanted to hire us or not. Well, Harubi up and left for a friends house, totally forgetting the interview! Oh well! I went there, and got the job! This was a first for me, cuz I usually go over to a kids house at night and watch them for a few hours, maybe putting them to bed. ((This woman was divorced, and her regular baby-sitter cancelled for this week, btw)) She needed me to watch her kids while she was at work, 8 am to 5 pm! I was like, AAHHH!!!!!! I GOTTA WAKE UP AT 7!!! ((Note: I usually wake up after 10, only cuz I have to. I'd sleep later if I could.)) But she said she'd pay me $25 a day. Which I think is pretty cheap cuz I had to feed and watch her kids for FOREVER! But I didn't complain.

    I won't bore you with the details, cuz their not particularly important. Just know that I baby-sat them yesterday and today ((and haven't slept in 2 days!!)) and got $50!!

    I got $47 for baby-sitting for my parents from Monday and Tuesday, so I went to the mall!! Tunred out, that WaldenBooks ((awesome place to buy manga!)) was having a "Buy 4 get the 5th free sale!" So I did, heehee! I bought the 3, 4, and 5th Alice 19th....the 4th Fruits Basket....and the 6th Rurouni Kenshin. I've only read Fruits Basket though, since I've been gone most of the day. I think with this $50 I'll go shopping tomorow and get a few shirts and then the 2nd Tokyo Babylon. Next time I get paid I'll order Lumen Lunae. After all, why buy a manga you can't read before you buy manga you CAN? Don't get me wrong though! I really want Lumen Lunae, ^__^.

    You know what's really scary? ((I gotta TV, VCR, and DVD in my room)) ((NO, that's not the scary part....)) I was watching Fruits Basket in my room, and part of it is about one of the main charachets, Yuki's, older brother coming over and bonding with him, his name being Ayame. Well, Ayame and Yuki are 10 years apart, and since they were so far apart, they never spent much time together and a rift gradually began to grow and grow and GROW!

    The point is, that I suddenly realized that me and Gaki are 9 years apart! I don't wanna end up like Yuki and Ayame either. So, I'm putting forth all my efforts to be nice(r) to her. I even got really depressed at one point yesterday and hugged her for no good reason. ((Betcha can imagine the look on Harubi's face, as well as Gaki's, heh.)) I don't care though. I have to be nicer to Gaki if I was to hold that gap between us together, preventing it from growing, ^__^.

    I haven't slept for the past 2 days...! Yeah, I know, the 1 day's I babysat the girls. My mind is soo tired....but for some reason, my creativity and individuality suddenly SPARKED! ((Yes, SPARKED!)) I suddenly got all these really awesom ideas for my room! All of which happen to have me painting something on my roof, lol. My favorite one is this: ok, imagine a big red rose with HUGE black angels wings, and around it is a white snake and a blue dragon, growling at these dark grey chains that are snaking up my walls to get the snake and dragon! All this on a light blue background with dark blue stippling and flicked spots of dark red ((blood))

    I know you probably can't imagine it, but its soo cool!! I'm gonna draw it, then show it to my parents, really hoping they'll agree! Even if it doesn't, when we get a scanner I'll post it on my profile so you can see it, ^__^/
