- Only as big as you make it out to be... 2003-06-13 23:28:23 So after many failed attempts (on a different computer), I finally was able to download that Fruits Basket video. While it was worth the wait, I can't help but feel like I just did myself in for the worse, because I knew as soon as I saw it finished, I'd feel like my own video was a sham in comparison. Gah! Trendsetters can usually have that effect...but through the so-called psychological damage it seems to be doing (okay, not really), I'll still move on...and I have. I finished all the parts that aren't the chorus and mindless filler parts of the song. Now I just have to go back and reorganize all the clips to correspond to the theme of that part of the song; mess around with the strobe effect;and maybe I'll have something I'll want to post on AMV when I get back to school in August...who knows!?

I always have doubts...doubts about clips, doubts about how long they should be, doubts about worrying if a theme is trying to be conveyed...but ultimatlely it leads to one original doubt that rules them all. I always get conflicting ideas and the urge to junk something that I currently work on in hopes of finishing a new project. It isn't very settling...
Nonetheless I'm still carrying on, and learning about new effects in the process. I just realized last night that a friend of mine had loaned me a rather lengthy instructional guide to Adobe Premier, so I spent the latter part of last night reading through some of it...of which it was very much to my advantage (transparency's rock!).
Other than that, I guess I'll get back to watching one of the best Buffy episodes of which I named the title of this journal entry (so what if it's lame...it's still good!). -

I suppose it could be worse, but Sundays always leave me tired and cut-off. The good news is that I'm actually getting the ball rolling on this Fruits Basket video. I'm about 50 seconds through, but I realized that I have much more "filler" clips than anything, I mean, 50 seconds and the song isn't at a complete verse yet. It's still an intersting process, though, and all of the trial and error I've done with strobe effects have paid off so far. I'll get back to it right after I finish typing this...
On the other hand, a friend of mine (lilgumba) is having a bad AMV experience. She has plenty of DVD's for resources, spacious hard drive and a will to finish, but her Premiere program doesn't exactly mesh with Windows XP, apparently and she's been making clips in V-Dub. Although I think it makes me appreciate her work more in the longrun seeing as how she still overcomes it...good stuff!
On top of that, I learned that this girl (soon to be president of the anime club at our college) Katy has just finished the first installment of her Fruits Basket video. She showed a preview of it just before the semester ended and it rocked! At the very least it put a smile on my face, after going through an otherwise downtrodden Saturday. But yeah, my modem is insufferably slow and unless I leave my dial up modem on for over 5 hours, it doesn't look like I'll see it anytime soon. It sure makes the 2.5 months until school begins again seem like forever (though I guess that's never a bad thing :D). - O_O 2003-06-07 23:37:21 Wow...I hadn't realized that it was nearly a month before I wrote my first jounral entry...time just flew right by me! Anyway, I finally got the first and fourth Fruits Basket discs in the mail (the third should be here any day now, but I got a friends disc just to start earlier). I was listening to my winamp songs and just writing down the ones that stuck out in my head to do a video for, and among the ones I chose, I started out with DJ Sammy (yeah, that Heaven song). I know it seems a bit overdone, but I realized I didn't care too much...as long as I have fun making it...and I am so far. I still need to learn a few transparency techniques that I'd like to use, but so far I'm not having problems. I really need to remind myself to finish my other Fruits Basket video (the one with the Santana/Michelle Branch - Game Of Love song), but I'm in no rush...
- About time! 2003-05-04 13:29:44 I finally got around to uploading my video (after like a year of waiting)! It's even been redone with smoother transitions (because I didn't know how to use the program before....bah...I still did it in windows movie maker since Adobe was being a punk to use). At the advice of a friend, I even submitted it to the ACEN contest this year (though I think I'll pretty much get creamed...I'm not a professional in ANY way). I'm still anxious to see everyone else's work though...to see how they edit and stuff. Only 2 more weeks to go!
