Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Ikaros - REMAKE!

Post by Professor » Sat Sep 18, 2004 10:27 am

After much blood, sweat and tears I've finally made a remake of my first amv. The changes that follows are:

Original subtitles are cropped away (except for in one single place) and new subtitles with an english translation of the lyrics are added instead. I've also shortened down the video-stream a bit in order to make it end with a more aestethically correct black screen instead of just a freezed image.

The new video is to be found here and a subtitle file with the translated lyrics can be downloaded from here. Just put it in the same directory as the videofile.

If the .srt file is having the same name and resides in the same directory as the movie file then it should start automatically, at least in BSPlayer. If you don't have BSPlayer, get it! It's free, small, handy and minimalistic.

I've seen this before... if you stick the .SRT in the same directory as the .AVI, and you have DirectVobSub installed, and you open the AVI in WMP or whatever your media player of choice is, the subtitles should come up automatically.

But I've never tried it myself.

You know, you could just mux the subtitles with VobSub so they're already in the .avi. Although, for some reason BS Player doesn't play those subtitles and media player classic does. (odd)

And WMP in turn doesn't seem to like .srt files... :? It's a dilemma.

I've never had a problem with WMP9 and subtitles. They've always played cleanly. Do you have VobSub?
