Oh, I've already played DMC4 a bunch of times. I should have mentioned that. I only bought the PS3 version because my computer doesn't play the PC version worth a shit compared to the laptop I used to have, and I just wanted a copy that would be playable without having to crank down the visual settings.
But yes, OMFG, I fucking HATE the Chrono areas. It's been such a long time since I played the game that I had almost forgotten about them. D :
I finally got to a point where I had all of the patterns memorized and I could zip through the areas really quickly, but it's still dumb as fuck.
For me, DMC4 suffers from a number of major problems, the most obvious of them being boss repeats and a painful amount of backtracking, not to mention moronic "puzzles" and, of course, platforming in a game where that's hardly the point. I still love it to death, though, because it has a lot of awesome to offset the garbage. Honestly, I wish that the newest game would have been a collaboration between studios instead of handing the franchise over completely. We might have been able to weed out the bad stuff of both developers and probably would have ended up with a really badass game instead of the lackluster product we got.
