Esrhan wrote:The editing and song work alright to create this weird video about Osaka's trippy world, but as a whole this doesn't connect too well. The idea feels stretched and keeps going, and going, and going... The beginning is good and all, but it just gets really old really fast after a minute or two.
Too bad it didn't work for you. But hey, you can't always win. Not even every time.
NOOB wrote:Haha fantastic! I liked the editing in this, it was all very (or at least relatively) tastefully done, and it didn't seem like an overkill on effects, and overall this video just...WORKED. So good execution on concept
Tasteful is such a relative word. Glad you liked.
NOOB wrote:This feels more like a tribute to Osakas crazyness.
That's what it is, basically.
Minion wrote:i really liked the idea, and several parts made me smile.
fun vid, but it doesn't seem like you a whole bunch of effort into it. much of the video felt half-assed
This is how I wanted the video to be, so I wouldn't call it half-assed... But I appreciate the criticism.

dj_ultima_the_great wrote:I think maybe the reason some folks don't quite get this is because they're looking too hard for "comedy" when it really is a "character profile." When you think of it that way, this video really works to explain how Osaka's mind functions. I liked this, but I'm hit-or-miss when it comes to older music, and I don't particularly care for this song. Negating that, though - good job!
Now that I think about it, I guess it is more a character profile than straight comedy. The music may not be everyone's cup of tea, but this song is one of my personal all-time favourites.
purplepolecat wrote:I really liked this. Good concept, good scene selection, and great use of overlays. I don't think I've seen a better Osaka character profile.
:o

Thanks!
purplepolecat wrote:The only bits I didn't like were the 16 second pan-banging sequence at the beginning, and the bits where you faded a scene to black before starting the next one.
Perhaps the fades to black weren't the brightest idea, I agree.

I liked this, but it didn;t seem to fit in with the comedy category. As DJ said it seemed more of a character profile with some slight humor thrown in.

amusing, but not nearly funny enough to compete with the others in the category.

still, good editing and a good video nonetheless.

Solidly edited... But I wonder why everyone freaks out of Hendrix, and this song in particular. His guitar work is.. meh.

I agree, but doubt it would have fared better in Drama for instance. ;) I'm just happy to have it shown to a huge audience.

You can't argue matters of taste. Some have it, some don't.

Cool video, Janzki. I agree with what others have said as far as it being more like a character profile than a comedy. Still a fun video overall, so nice work.
