Oropher: Quite frankly, I think everyone's track stands out. We have a good variety going as it is. And there's also a track or two that I haven't put in the mix that may blend nicely with yours. No rush to switch tracks just yet. But it couldn't hurt to have a backup. I'd rather you edit to something you want to edit to, not just because you feel it doesn't fit. I think we'd all rather have a great video project with a "meh" song or two, instead of okay songs and "bleh" editing.
DJ-san: angel234 has switched songs, to Celldweller's Switchback (the irony in such a title is not lost on me). There are a set of stray vocals, but I think they add to the techno-rock groove, and I had trouble editing a workable track for him. Switchback also has a very definitive ending, so Angel's track will be the last in the project (should he decide to stay with that song), and the song you chose for the outro can start from there.
Angel's Switchback track is there, so you can see how the mix will end. I know some vocals are included, but I think it sounds neat . . . but we'll see how you feel about it first.
Finally, @ y'all, this track mix is giving me more of a headache than previously thought o.o; If I could get all the songs and finish the mix A.S.A.P, it'd be great. I really want to work on my actual video track, and all this time making the mix is pushing me into "ugh I give up" mode. Not good if I still want to be in the project.

I need uncompressed .WAV files, not MP3's. Upload the .WAV's for me and I'll check them out for you.bluetrain wrote:I've been really struggling to find an instrumental song.
I've come up with with two ideas but they feature one chorus, in each song.
In Flames - System
In Flames - Evil In A Closet
But really, i could upload mp3s and you could check 'em out?

Let's see... I read over everyone's posts, and I listened to the beta mix several times as well.
Firstly, I've updated the main page. As usual, let me know if any of the info is wrong. With people bouncing between song choices, I'm admittedly having some trouble keeping up with who is editing to what. That's not a bad thing, of course. I want people to find a track that they're happy with editing. It's just a bit tougher to follow organizationally.
Also, you may notice that I've removed segment lengths from the track listings. The only reason I asked for them initially was so that I would know how many tracks the project could have and still manage to hover around fifteen minutes total (not including intro/outro). Now that the number of tracks won't go up anymore, I don't need that info (except on my track, so it's clear where the intro ends and the track begins).
Secondly... the beta mix. When I first listened to it, I was grinning ear to ear. It sounds like everyone so far is doing a good job with song choices. There's enough similarity that the songs can flow together, and enough diversity that each track will be unique. Take, you're doing wonderful with the mix thus far, and I'm excited to hear the entire thing in action. Keep on tweaking it to your liking, and I'm sure it'll be great. ^_^
Thirdly... "Switchback," the finishing track. I thought I recognized that title, and it turns out that I have heard that song before - in a pretty good Devil May Cry 3 video, offsite. Which is weird, considering that angel's source is DMC3 as well. Extreme coincidence? I think so, but even if it's a case of "stolen idea," as long as the track itself is edited uniquely, I'm okay with it. For the song itself, I like the ending on it, so I approve of it being the last track. The few little vocals in it really aren't any more intrusive than the ones in sayde's track, so I don't mind.
Fourthly... bluetrain. I would really rather you didn't have vocals, but if it's what you'll edit best to, I'll allow it. After all, like I was just saying above, "Switchback" and "Snow Castle" both have voices in them, and I really don't think that that's going to kill the mix.
@Take: if you do end up having 3+ songs with vocals, please do your best to avoid putting them all in a row. That's just... obvious, you know? However, if for any reason, that doesn't work, I won't panic over it. It's just an aesthetics/blending thing.
Also, Take... when you finish the final version of the mix, please do me a favor and post each artist/song, in order, who is editing it, with the segment lengths for each part. I'm rearranging the main post once the editing phase of the project gets underway, and I'll need that to keep things organized and ready to go when I have to start checking off betas and whatnot.
I think that's everything for now. Let me know if there's something else I need to address, alrighty?

PS: I'm sending a bunch of PMs out to everyone right now, reminding you all of the deadlines and what I have down as your choices for sources. If you have everything in and my info for you is correct, then just respond with an "okay." If you're missing something, please get on that. If my info for you is wrong, please respond and correct me on it. Thanks!

i wasn't suggesting you use the mp3s in the mix.TakefujiYami-sama wrote:I need uncompressed .WAV files, not MP3's. Upload the .WAV's for me and I'll check them out for you.bluetrain wrote:I've been really struggling to find an instrumental song.

But really, i could upload mp3s and you could check 'em out?
i was suggesting that you listen to them to find out whether or not they're suitable for the mix.
but its okay, i think i may have found something.
i'll send it after school.

What's the point in sending me MP3 files? If I need uncompressed .WAVs, sending an MP3 is useless. Just convert the songs you want to use into .WAV and send those. That way you don't have to send the same song twice.bluetrain wrote:i wasn't suggesting you use the mp3s in the mix.
