Is my video a complete failure? Please I need input on this

Post by Senvae » Sun Feb 04, 2007 6:41 pm

I just posted this video and it was very experimental, I totally didn't go with your traditional standards and I got my first rating for it, someone gave it a 1 star. Is it really that bad? I'll exchange 1:1 if you guys wanna help me out a little bit.

Tell you what since I'm feeling generous...

No exchange for me, unless you really want to.

I'll check out your video free of charge. I'll DL it now and I'll try to have the op done in a day or two. No later then next weekend depending on if I can actually sleep one night.

Thanks, I'm owrried that this experiment of mine flopped....I loved this video and loved making it but perhaps I'm the only one who thinks so.

Here's my AMV philosophy, If YOU like it and enjoyed making it, screw what others think. It keeps the hobby more fun that way.

Yeah you're right, I guess I worry too much what others think. I always do any AMV for myself, but I just love sharing them to much to be able to bear the tought of being the only one that thinks its cool. Anyways, if you don't like it please say so in the OP, I value and respect honesty (even blunt honesty) above all other character traits. Because it is one of the rarer ones.

I watched it and I have to admit that I really didn't like it. 2/5
But Krisqo's right. The only thing that matters is that you like it and enjoyed making it.

I won't do an exchange because I'm too lazy to right a full op right now, but I will give you my thoughts here. It's win-win for you ^_^

I was actually pretty surprised to find myself really liking this video. The concept was *really* original, and the song fit better than almost any song I can think of, especially because of the synths and general '80s vibe, which fit in really well with the video. It was also cool how you put like scenes from Top Gun and Macross right next to each other...it helped you transcened the border between anime and live action, in a way.

I did have some problems, however. The intro went on WAY too long, and I think you probably could have cut most, if not all of it out. I find it's better to not spell out the concept of a video in the video itself, because it kind of ruins the surprise, as it were.

Also, there wasn't really any beat sync and there were too many stray frames at the end of some clips, where the scene changed really quickly before the transition. The video didn't really flow beat-qise, but conceptually I really dig it and will probably watch it again because the feel of the video and music just go together so well.

Overall, you get a hearty  from me, and in general I'd say your little experiment worked!

I guess I was trying to show similarities between the 2 movies on a scary level. So the beat sync wasn't my main concern, that much I know. But this was more like an airshow AMV than anything. This AMV I recommend to all people who loves planes as much as I do. Because my other talents besides creativity does include my 2years in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering that I took in college. So yeah, I'm a fighter-jet lover on a big level.

Thank you very much for all those who graciously gave their honest opinion, I really appreciate the important feedback I got. Don't hesitate to send me some trade-in OP and I'll link you a less experimental AMV in return,
