Now you get why some people would complain about your amvs. How can you expect other people to like your vids indiscriminately when you're biased yourself? Seriously, where you do you get off complaining about "the amount of amvs created with it" when you used Eva? Naruto might be more popular now, but Evangelion isn't exactly original in itself.

Stick around a while. Don't worry about biased people when you're honest about your own bias - they're no better or worse than you are when it comes to that. They're just people. If you want fewer complaints, try doing an op exchange with someone who can give you tips on improving your editing (lack of beat sync can kill even the most original concept, poor capture can beat it after it's dead, wmv can run off even the easy-to-please crowd, etc). You'll never satisfy everyone, but you can make an effort to avoid the most obvious complaints. Or you can ignore everyone and everything and make as many weird Evangelion vids as you want. Maybe you'll end up having as much fun as those who make dozens of Naruto vids and love every second of it. ;p

I get bad reviews all the time, and look at me, I haven't committed suicide.
Yet.

Weird videos get good reveiws if people get it, or just think it's funny. If people don't get it, they think you're an idiot and can't make a good video worth shit. (i.e, Llama Llama!...duck?)

I know that Evangelion has been overused in the past, and I am a tad bit biased in my statements, but I'm new to Eva myself, and sadly enough, I got into late in the game, (2006  ). But, yes, I suppose I really am a hypocrite, but honestly...Naruto is mainly fight scenes that can fit any hard rock song. With Eva, at least you have a little bit more to play with, but I should shut up about that as well because I have seen serious Naruto amvs done right a new times; it even got me into liking Haku more than I did before.

I dunno. I'm easily pushed around and I want to make everyone happy. I suppose that will most definitely not happen. I should try to use anime series that haven't been done before, and stick with my indie rock tunes. I dunno. I'm hypocrate either way so...

No, no, see, that's my point! ^^; Use the anime you like. It doesn't matter if it's been used a lot or not. Some people will complain just because of the anime - expect that and make your vid, anyway, because you want to. As long as you like the anime, it doesn't matter how original or unoriginal it is. There *will* be other people who like that anime, so you get to enjoy yourself and share the fun, without compromising yourself.

People complain that they'd like more under-used anime in amvs, but the fact is, using unknown anime only gets you praise if you're really good at editing - if you're not, then you'll be lucky if you get viewers, let alone feedback. If you're aiming to change yourself to please them, don't look at what they say they want - look at what they download and review. Popular anime. Good editing. Great capture. It's a trick. If everyone who hated overused anime actually *wanted* fresh sources, they'd be using them in their own vids.

:D That is very true. If I was to do an am on like...Miyuki-chan in Wonderland, I would be lucky to get up to ten hits a month unless I edited it with after effects and did heavy publicity with it. I suppose it's ultimately about what I want to do, and what I want to create, so I shouldn't worry about other people...

I wish I could use that motto in real life as well...because the same stuff happens.

If you try to make everyone happy, it's going to backfire. Horribly. o.O Some people might like what your video was, some people might not. Not everyone has the same opinion, but it's good to get feedback none the less.

Plain and simple, People like what they like. If they don't like something you made and they let you know about it, then you just have to deal. If it's a flame, in other words, you just laugh and walk away.

It's not something you're 'doing wrong' persay (back in your first post) but if people like these over used animes + over used songs and not original videos, then that's they're loss.
--> I remember I was on the tube once and someone had posted this really really awful (IMO) naruto vid to system of a down - chop suey. It look like they took a big chunk of an ep (with subs) and slapped it in movie maker, then rendered and uploaded. But there were over a hundred comments that said "ZOMG THAT VID ROCKED! YOU ARE TEH AWSEOM!! GREAT JOB!!!"
And I left a comment saying a few things the editor could improve and all of a sudden people with screen names like 'kakashiizhot' and 'naruto32242' were jumping down my throats for 'insulting' a video they didn't even make.

If someone doesn't like the video, obviously somewhere out there, there are a million people to back you up and defend your video. Just wait for the right feedback, and listen to constructive criticism. Make what you what. If you like it, if you're happy with it, then you should be proud of it. Fuck what people think. Fuck what I think. o.O

ahahahahahahahahah

I know exactly what you are talking about. I'm an avid tube junkie, and I've seen some of the worst things ever on there, yet they get the most praise. Initially, I was actually afraid to come on the org because I know that you guys actually care about amvs, while on there, its nothing more than subtitled videos and effortless attempts to gain popular. I knew that I would be told the truth and not sugar-coaded lies, so to speak.

In that aspect, I suppose I can say that I'm not the worst editor ever, and that's not bad at all. ^_^

Hence why I need to rip all my Hello Kitty DVDs and do more AMVs with them.

In conjunction with the comment, with the Hello Kitty vid I have up, yeah, my editing's not great, but most of the bad comments I got on it were complaining about the fact that I used Hello Kitty. It's not a commonly used anime. Apparently people think there's a reason for that. But you know what? I had a blast making it. And I will continue making Hello Kitty AMVs because I like the anime and they're fun to make. And I will continue to put them to rock/metal songs. Because I like it! :D

The sooner you learn that, the better. This is one hobby where it's better to just please yourself.

I totally dig hello kitty, (I'm really a child in that aspect  ), and kudos to you for making the kitty rock!

See? That's what I'm saying. People didn't dig my french tunes for my elfen lied amv, but meh...whatever. I'm going to keep using weird tunes til I dun feel like it anymore.
