When to allocate time!!!
My question is where to find the time? I really struggle to find time to edit, when I do it seems to just consume! even though I enjoy it! Does anyone have any secrets on how they manage work, social lives and the time it takes to edit? Any one had any difficulty finding the time aswell and sometimes feel like there AMV they have planned will never happen? Anyone get paid to make AMVs or sneak time in at work to make them? Bit of a wierd question I know but there is an AMV I've been planning for months now and never get round to doing it!

I've found that everyone has more free time than they think they do, it's just that they spend most of it thinking about when they won't have free time again. Like if you get up early for class and you end up having 30 min. of downtime, that's time that could go to AMVs rather than sulking that you have to go to class in half an hour. Or if you watch TV for an hour or two in the afternoon or read for a few hours before bed, stuff like that--- those are all times you could put towards AMVing if you wanted to.
I mean, I feel your pain. I am a full time student with a half time job and a friends and family so it is hard to spend as much time on these things as I did back in high school, but if you really want to do something you make time for it. It's all about prioritizing and maybe sacrificing a lesser hobby (mine being napping XD).

I did a fan-animated vid a year or so ago that was done almost entirely on my computer at work. I was a receptionist/secretary at the time, so a lot of the day was spent doing "whatever" on the computer and waiting for the phone to ring. It was a pretty old computer, but I copied my photoimp program over and used it to edit frames - tedious stuff that takes hours and hours, day after day. Got paid for a good 3 to 4 months working on that video nonstop. It probably would have taken a year if I'd had to do it all at home when I got off work. ;p
These days it's not a matter of finding time so much as motivation.

I do my work in the evenings when I have little homework and Saturday morning when my sister is at band so I can monopolise the computer for several hours straight.

Well for me I'm typically pretty good at time management so it's not an issue of time for me but rather it's balancing my other outside activities against it. Typically my editing is the two hours before I go to sleep since by then I've got all the work I've been meaning to do for the day so I edit, then I shower and then sleep.
