I'm currently getting my BA in Anthropology and English, and once I graduate I plan on beginning a career in archaeology, though I'm not sure what culture I want to study at this point. I may work in the Southwest with Native American ruins for a bit while I get a feel for where I want to go, or I may end up in Greece. I'll probably at least get an MD at some point, if not a PhD. I'd like to do some fiction writing as well.

I'm surprised at how few of you are going for video related careers.
I'm a students right now. One of my ideas is to start a freelance videography business while going to college. My goal right now is to go for a career in that field, though I'm open to other possibilities as well.
I do great in school and I know I have the potential to do just about anything I want. If getting a good job in the video industry becomes too much based on luck, I might reconsider.

I think part of the reason most of us don't do video-related careers is because this is a hobby to us. This is recreational, artistic, expressive. Throw professionalism into it, and you lose that over time. When it comes to creativity, if you sell yourself, it becomes a task. And tasks inhibit creativity. And in this hobby, if you inhibit yourself, the process is agonizing.
If I'm going to be paid for something, I want no attachments. I want to do it methodically, mathematically, effectively, and efficiently.

I'm a professional editor for Troublemaker Studios. I'm doing various work for them, including but not limited too a feature length documentary, teaser/promo music videos for their independent projects, and various other things. The pay is good so far and the work environment is much to my liking. I keep a basic schedule, but it doesn't matter WHAT time I come in because they know it will get done at the end of the month. No one is breathing done my neck, I don't punch a card, and I get paid a flat monthly rate, regardless of sick days, or naps taken, or extended lunches. As long as it gets done, I'm good.
Its a total dream career, and I get to edit for money. So far I haven't completed anything that I'm proud enough to talk about, but the documentary is going to be awesome. You'll see it in theaters hopefully

I get paid to babysit my sister's kid. I got a 4yr degree in writing to be a babysitter.
Year before last I was a full time secretary and errand girl to a lumber yard. Before that I worked at a theme park for a few years, at an accounting office, as an actual stacker in the lumber yard (secretary was a step up, but the pay sucked in comparison), at a diaper factory (best pay for the hours worked), wrote a weekly column for the local newspaper (pay sucked), as a live-in caretaker for the elderly (they die), and a few other odd things that I never get around to putting on an actual resume. I like factory work best because you work regular hours and don't have to think.
I'll probably end up being a teacher to keep my mom quiet, and writing in my freetime. I don't really care where I work if I can pay the bills and still have my freetime. ^^
