Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

This one wasn't planned. (REC-Goo Goo Dolls)

Post by Greggus1 » Sat Dec 16, 2006 4:07 pm

Maybe that's what I like about it :)

So, REC is a cute mix of of Haruhi and Love Hina, and it turns out something fairly light like this is great fun to edit.

I got a bigger something coming soon, and this is just a side project. And side projects DO NOT under any circumstances get posters.

Enjoy!

OMFG OMFG OMFG

You have GOT to be kidding me. Did you do this before or after I made that half-serious suggestion in that one guy's thread?

Holy shit. You have absolutely NO idea how excited I am to get this Greg. Expect an op tomorrow.

...*Squeeeeee*

EDIT: I beat you, aerialesque :P

First off, the video was very likable. And the quality was very good (1280 x 720 HD res?).

But... I had problems playing this video with Media Player Classic and Windows Media Player - sound, but no video. I finally used VLC to play it after it gave me a dialog that said the AVI file is broken and seeking will not work properly. When I opened it up in VirtualDubMod, it gave me the MP3 VBR audio stream error. After clearing that error dialog, VDM tells me it can't locate a decompressor for 'xvid' (!) which tells me that this was encoded with a DirectShow version of XviD and it requires the DirectShow filter for playback. If I enable ffdshow to handle XviD (not my first choice, I normally disable this), it plays without a hitch in MPC and WMP using ffdshow's decoder filter. This is the first time I have encountered this issue.

Just a heads up:
For people who use VLC media player, they will encounter an error, likely due to the VBR MP3 audio stream.

For people who installed the XviD codec only or are using XviD for decoding, it is (at least Koepi's build is) a VfW codec and not compatible with this DirectShow XviD video - use VLC or use ffdshow to decode the video.

For people who use the default CCCP installation, you shouldn't have a problem since it uses ffdshow for XviD decoding.
Having trouble playing back videos? I recommend: Image

And I'm the child? I imagine it could be worse...

Am I supposed to get from that you liked it, or did you not post here with the idea of giving feedback in mind?

Thank you very much, although you're reviving the flames of a debate on the quality of the vid I've been having with people (You know who you are :P ).

And thanks again. I'm not sure what I did to make it this way, being awful with the technical stuff, but I'll try doing something different with the audio next time. Those are some very helpful tips.
