The hell, that was yours? That was one awesome video ;p
I was here thinking when is the creator going to annouce that vid, It would get some good response on the forums, not even knowing you did it ;p
the awesome thing about this vid, is that even though the video is so chock full of effects, it so perfectly fits the style of Samurai champloo that it seemed like a work of art. Normally I'd cringe at such a blatant overuse of unnessisary effects, but this was just awesome. I realy liked how you timed the effect cut aways with the swings of the sword, and have both the effects and the onscreen action timmed well and in synch with both the song and each other. You didn't rely too heavily on just your effects to match the beat of the song. It realy did deserve best timming for that reason alone.
definate 5/5 stars from me.

well, pretty damn good, I must say :O
what was actually that great about the vid?
neither the concept nor the actual scene selection made me go mad.
the thing that appealed to me the most was the optical style that merged with the - already beautifully done - samurai champloo artworks...
the effects - coming from a dance editor - were well used and added so much to the overall flaw. but the most important thing about them is that they were mostly custom and then also a work of aesthetics.
i guess the only effect I didn't like started at 1:58. here, the music didn't justify the change and, despite of that, the effect was way too static, whereas the movements itself weren't able to put up with the dynamic music at that point.
still, a very cool video.

Hey there, the thread's still going. I guess it's time for some responses.
<.<
I'm honored.

Thanks again to everyone who's checked out the vid and left some comments here. I really appreciate it!
Glad you gave it a chance and ended up liking it in the end.Warheart wrote:Hehe, I really have to say this video needed time to conquer my mind. After watching it nearly 20 times it started to grow faster and faster. And now I slowly get why people like this video, it's pretty damn awesome. So yeah, I like it quite much.

I don't think there's even enough coherent story in Samurai Champloo to mix into this vid so I just went with the song. And yes, play it loud, very loud.Streicher wrote:This is one of those "sit back and just play it loud" videos. Great stuff.
As the original story in the anime isn't really diverse, it probably would have turned into a disaster when you would have tried to squish a story in too.
That's exactly what I was shooting for.Prodigi wrote:the effects were well executed, and enhanced what was happening on screen. good job
Awesome, another person who didn't know about my Pro entry! Yay for the element of suprise. But anyway, glad ya liked it. I've been getting some mixed comments on there being too many effects and some that say there's not enough. But either way they accomplished the style I was going for. My main focus was timing in the first place and I'm glad that it stands over the effects.Bakadeshi wrote:The hell, that was yours? That was one awesome video ;p

Yep, Samurai Champloo has some very nice animation and I really didn't want to wash that out with too much. This vid originally was going to have no effects but I felt that I could add them in for more style and sync without distracting too much from the action onscreen.-Good for Nothing- wrote:well, pretty damn good, I must say :O
