Connichi video - In Extremo/Spirited Away

Post by Kai Stromler » Mon Sep 18, 2006 8:25 am

lass mich
music: In Extremo, "Die Gier"
visuals: Spirited Away
runtime: 3:44
filesize: 34 MB, local

This video was done about two months back, but is just being released now after premiering at Connichi 2006 so that everyone who wasn't in Kassel this past weekend can see it -- as well as everyone who was there and just ignored it waiting for the good videos to go on.

I was hoping to release this in tandem with an extremely, um, different video that I've been working on for a while, but reckoned without being seriously ill all weekend. Hopefully that will get done in the next few days.

Actually I tought you'd understand the lyrcis and thus you'd base it more onto lyric sync. But to be honest I've seen better videos from you despise the fact I really dislike the band since they're like Linkin Park over here. I hope your next video will be better again. Altough the editing was wuite solid, if only you used a bit more lyricsync. It's only logical that I pay attention to german lyrcs a bit more then to english since it's my mother language. But the video got some good feedback from the crowd tough.

Not being fluent in german I thought there were some lyrics sync I couldn't not understand. Seems I was wrong. Well anyway, editing was ok but I didn't really get into this one.

hey thanks,

I did try to lyricsynch as much as possible, but kind of ran into limitations of the source. Next video, though, is not going to be synched to either the music or lyrics near so much as synched to Alf Ator's original direction, and from the quarter of it that's done so far, it's definitely 'mental'.....dunno about 'good'.

I did get your video yesterday, but work, illness, and football-watching have so far prevented me from watching it; I'll try to see it tonight and pop you some comments tomorrow.

regards,

For better or worse, it's sort of along the lines of I might've expected from you.

It's a video. I think it works, fairly linearly, but well enough - and I won't pick on the German here since I don't understand enough of it to do that. I think I would've ignored it even if I did understand, since it wasn't through the lyrics that the main structure came here anyway.

My main sort-of-gripe would be, well, the somewhat static nature of the video. Maybe it's a little too focused on the characters and the 'movement' here. On the one hand, that's good. On the other hand, I think it misses out on being more striking, even just visually. Very little 'eye candy'. Or maybe I'm just spoiled by all these videos with blood, explosions, massive camera sweeps etc.
So, focused, well-composed, but not really striking.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
