rule/guideline for journal usage

Just my random two cents:

I may not have a buddy list, but I like my journal, and I like to read other people's journals. However, I haven't read any entries lately because of the irritating 'conversations' going on between the same users I see every time I log on. It's become a waste of time.

Isn't there a chat room on this site somewhere, anyway? It's the same people every time, so why not use an instant messenger or something? The journals are public for a reason. When you make a public entry, you're talking to the members of the org, whether it be about AMVs or yourself. The reason a link to your journal is posted on the main page is so that your entry can be announced to everyone on the org. You should write something that you want everyone to read.

Except that most of the problems here are caused by the same group: immature people who only care about themselves. Make a new rule about journals, and they'll find some other way to abuse the Org. Regulations won't cure these problems, because the rules won't even get read by the people who should read them (WHAT SOFTWARE DO I USE TO MAKE AN AMV, anyone?). Just the other day someone said they hadn't read the guides because they didn't notice the guide had more to it than the front page. Rules tacked up somewhere will NOT fix that mindset.

It's just like elementary school: two kids were bad so the teacher makes a rule that punishes everyone while the two bad kids smirk in the corner. All that does is further restrict good kids while the bad kids push new limits. Rather than disallowing EVERYONE to EVER use the journals for frivolity, just warn the people who are clearly abusing it. New restrictions are not needed--that's what admin discretion is for. The journal abusers know they're being stupid, they just don't care (yet).

Until people mature, the only thing they respond to is personal inconvenience (e.g. being banned from their favorite Org!!!). Connect the problem directly to the cause without involving everyone else's usage of the site.

i keep hearing about the OT list and how its "gone for a reason"
but since i was never on the forums when it was around (too chicken due to the assholes that populate this forum...) i never knew what it was like :/

so why the hell was it deleted? straight answer please... :/

if it was because of "drama" and to "keep the drama under control" seriously... :/ there are people on this site, and where there are people there will "always be drama" but i guess deleting that section would give the mods one less thing to worry about :/

as it stands im fed up with all the "wankers" who complain how other people use their journals (omg dont post this its stupid/borring) shit that i getting to the point where i could care less if they deleted the journals... i was on livejournal long before i was ever on this site :/ i can "easily go back" to livejournal :/

seriously though, all the complaining in this thread is pathetic internet drama... and its such a shame you all had to go and do this... really

did you ever try ASKING the people who journal chat NICELY to CHILL or STOP with the "chatter"? i dont think so, all i remember reading is alot of bitching that people are using the journals for "retarded chats" you could have tried to be FUCKING DIPLOMATIC.... wow is it THAT HARD for people to BE NICE on this damn site?

i dont want to see the journals go either, cause its the only place where MOST of the people are actually nice to other members, and invite them to be apart of their community :/ and to me, you dont get that on the forums...

and there is no other "social" place on the site for that... even in IRC you have to put up with the idiocy of some of the players that populate that room, and dont get me started on the "AIM" chatroom, this site has warnings all over the link about how unmoderated it is :/

really this is all just alot of "wah wah" internet wank... get over it..
ive said to one of the mods, that i will ask them to stop or chill out, but only on the behalf of the mods, because they dont need the stress you all are causing them over this...

because seriously, you guys are making this problem out to be alot larger than what it is :/ pathetic in my opinion really.

it doesnt hurt to be nice and say "hay could you guys keep it down a bit, and try using the pm system? cause youre kinda bumping people off the list that i'd like to read"

no i just got to read "alot of you this isnt a fucking chat room, take it to PM dumbasses" (yes im looking at you cornboy) which will only make them want to "chat" more just to piss your fucking pathetic ass off... dumbass!

(oh and as for all you who like to spit out the "pm system" i can throw out the "journal buddy system" to you... if you wanna read someone keep them on your fucking journal buddy list)

i think everyone who is wanking over this is being rather immature too... they have to go and whine and cry and bitch at people rather than be nice and ASK them to stop...

they wanked all over this thread till finally the mods did something about it :/

they couldnt try to settle things on their own,

or if what they say was an "attempt" it was more like bitching at someone isnt going to make them change their ways...

being nice and polite and asking rather than whining bitching and demanding, cause seriously how you act towards others really determines how they react...

You know, I laughed so hard at that commend from Shazzy then I shook my head. "Until people mature..." Exactly how old is average user on this site? I have to say, at 36, I'm probably twice the age of the average user.

For God's sake, people, this is an ANIME MUSIC VIDEO site! Just how much maturity do you need to make an ANIME MUSIC VIDEO??? For me, it's because I was looking for more entertainment than just the stupid kiddie-pop trash music and rediculous videos on TV. Not a lot of older people with spare time on their hands will do this.

So we're all kids at heart here, and if you take AMVs and AMV journals so seriously that it makes you go cry to someone, then who's got a problem there.

Oh, and Journals are fun.

The thread started with 'asking', publically, but somewhat polite (I'd hope) that the problem be recognized (if it was a problem). And it was added to with other quietly written complaints explaining how the problem had run people away from the journals, proving the existence of a problem. The response was "Stop complaining, whiny people, we'll do whatever we want because we can." Then - after weeks of inattention - it got nasty with the "you guys are still doing it!" and the defensive and "you're all being mean for no reason just because you don't like us doing whatever we want, get a life you [insert insulting back and forth personal attacks for 1.5 pages], we'll keep doing it as long as we want."

Please don't say no one asked the problem to tone itself down - that was the purpose of the thread, to bring the problem to the forum and see if it helped without having to pm every single person doing it. Don't say that asking helped in any way, either. I've read journals asking Yeihweh (sp?) to post a little less per hour. Not all of the people asking were being rude. Maybe she doesn't read journals by people not on the junkies list, so she missed the requests. But the fact that she and 4 others post amused and irritated comments about whiny people complaining about them in the journals leads me to believe otherwise. There's as much insta-posting between the same people this morning as there was the day I made the thread. Those people are just angrier now...because I made the thread and other people jumped on it to complain and complain about the complaining. The same thing that was happening in the journals when I made the thread. Circle. Loop. Do we see a pattern? It's not stopping. If anything, it's worse now, because people from the forum are joining the debate by posting in their journals - leading the journal regulars to post even more back and forth posts.

The giant OT thread is still in the Site Announcement section. It's a good read. Some of us posted really thought-out reasons why the section shouldn't be gone (along with the intro sections - the thing the Journal Junkies are doing that I *like* because it *is* useful to the site to greet newcomers). Ultimate reason it was gone? Phade said so. It's his site. Thread locked, case closed. It's still a good read:

ha! but you never tried pming every single person doing it... if you ask someone on a personal level it comes across as more like a favor than "finger pointing" which is how this entire thread comes off:

omg look at what they are doing its annoying make rules so they have to stop!!!!

im an avid reader of the journals as far as i can tell theres only 3-5 people doing it "hardcore".. (omg my mouse hand and all that button clicking!!!!! it hurts!!!!!) theres a few straglers in other circles, but they dont do it as much as certain individuals.... plus if you contact one politely they might communicate that to the other ones you know... (omg!)

i saw this thread more as "mods omg do something about this?!? make rules... so they cant do that anymore" and granted im not as angry at you as i am at the cornasshole who has to wank and point fingers AT EVERYTHING HE SEES as "breaking rules"... but still i find all the "wanking" in this thread to be rediculous... and the fact that this thread exists just goes to show that someone is making a bigger deal out of this than it HAS to be. which is where all the drama came from :/

tons of posts this morning really? funny i havent seen the journal entries move for the last 2 hours. cept my 1 post... i dont see how its the same "flood" of posts :/ granted i went to bed last night and i didnt see the bazilions of posts that i'm sure went on, but i have reached atleast one person who claims that she will stop... perhaps you should look closer to the time stamps on entries. :/ or maybe by "this morning" you mean the people who usually post at night... when the site is dead anyways :/

fine conclusion:
ban cornwiggle i hate his ass anyways and he likes to instigate people more, especially with HIS journal responses that he likes to privatize minutes later to make it appear that hes not contributing to the mess... and his pms harassing people after they tell him to stop pming them, and his stupid rude snitty remarks and finger pointing... the guy really is a jerk and id like to see him put away for a while maybe he will stop his wanking...

really though from all sides its stupid, petty, rediculous and utterly immature... there were better ways to handle this... and aparently making this thread deffinately wasnt one of them :/
