"The vault" service

Recently got a new domain and host and I have more space and bandwidth than I'll ever need.
I'm going to start a service called "The vault".
The idea of it is to make an archive of hard to find and desired AMVs that aren't on the org for whatever reason.
Especially older AMVs that have been "out of circulation" for awile.

Or... You could take those hard to find AMVs, and start an initiative to PUT them on the org.

Out of genuine curiosity, I'd like to know how he's supposed to do that, Izumi. The way I see it...

1. Create accounts for the original video creators and upload the videos. NOT an option because it's against site rules.

2. Contact the original creators, get them to make an account (or use their potentially existing one), and have them upload their videos. Probably not an option, because many of these creators removed those videos on purpose and would not be so inclined to upload them again.

3. Request an upload to the Proxy account. Also probably not an option, because last I checked, the admins don't do Proxy uploads anymore.

If I'm missing an option, please tell me - but the way I see it, there's no way to get those lost videos put on the .org without the original creator's consent... which probably isn't happening.

Minion's suggestion seems like a decent idea, really.

Actually, I just ment that we start an initiative to get the admins doing proxies agian. I ment nothing involving Minion, as I really have no faith in him to do anything.

+1 vote for the revival of the proxy account. I've got one video that already has a listing. All SDC that are listed on the org. Pink Jebus.

Got homepage of the site up (It's my studio website. The vault is a side project that will have it's own section on the site.

The layout is temporary. Just some crappy stock template, for now.

I'm not gonna make an upload page for the vault, to prevent spamming. instead, I'll have the video sent to me, I'll screen it, then put it in the vault myself.
I'm only taking vids via AIM transfer, rapidshare, or some other temporary file host.

Alot fo the vids I'm going to post are from artists that aren't around the community anymore, so getting permission would be a challenge. I'll remove any videos upon the artist's request though.

Drop me PM with a rapidshare link, or your AIM name if you would like to contribute some classics

10 gigs of hard disk space, and 200gigs of bandwidth, which should be more than enough.

You'd be surprised how fast 200gigs can go by in a month if the videos in question are popular enough.

the vault isn't going to be public. at least not at first.
i'm going to password protect that section of the site, and announce the password on the org. and let it circulate by word of mouth.

the password probably won't ever change unless the link and password get posted on some popular site like fark (i know it won't get linked on fark. just an example of bandwidth murder)

if i find that the traffics not high enough to castrate my bandwidth, i may make the vault a public page in the future.
