Having your own videos for top 100...taboo?

By looking through a lot of profiles I've seen that a lot of experienced editors, or just most in general, their top 100 list has OTHER vids. I understand that, you don't need to pimp your own stuff, but I've also seen others who ONLY have their own vids for their list. I just think that's....just incredibly pathetic for some reason. It's like they're pissed at everyone so they have to say "MY VIDS RULE YOU!" or something.

But in all reality, I think it might be okay to add one of yours if it really is one of your favorites...

But what do you guys think about it?

I used to have my own videos on my favourites list. Heck, maybe I should even put them back up to highlight in which order I like my videos best rather than having than write up a "I prefer you download my vids in this order" type of thing written up on my member page.

Anyway, the reason I had them there was simple. I liked them. Otherwise I wouldn't have made them. Call it conceited or egocentric, but when I put them up there it was for the simple reason that I did like my own videos as much as I might have liked any other in that list. I also though made a point never to put any of my videos that I listed on my top 100 to make it to the top 10 because I know there are at least 10 (and of course in reality, tonnes more) other videos out there which I like better than what I created.

It's a favourites list. If anybody really wanted to be accurate, they'd be putting on at least one of their videos there because I hope at least that most people are making videos they like.

If someone is looking at my top100 videos, they are already at my profile page. All the need to do is scroll down to find videos that blow the ass off of anything on my list.

Assuming that you don't want to blow ass....

I thought the list was just a list of stuff that you liked. If you like your own stuff more, then put it in. I haven't updated mine since before I mad my own videos on the .org otherwise I'd probably have some of my own on there.

I've always seen that list as a way of promoting other people's work instead of self-publicity. It's never occured to me to put mine up. But if people want to that with it, no one's stopping them, even though I think it's tacky, to say the least.

I think it's really funny, this notion people have of "promoting" their AMVs. It's like look... no one is getting paid, no one is making a fan club for you, you're not gonna get laid over it...

This is just a wonderful place to show your artwork, which is essentially self expression in a medium we all love. Just make great work! Work hard on it! It will promote itself

Use your top list to show respect to those that inspire you to do great work.
