  • Comments: The currently downloadable version is an MPEG-4 codec remaster, because I'm a stickler for quality and this codec had the best results out of about a dozen I expirimented with. If you are unable to see the video I'd suggest downloading the 3ivx codec (Google it) or the older Xvid version is available upon request.

I can say with all honesty it was rather fun to make, despite the fact that around 90% of the initial editing was done on an almost-all-nighter. The total time was around 9 or so hours, I think.

In some ways this video is the spiritual sucessor to the two earlier "Redemption" videos (done back when I only had WMM, and older computer, and no original footage) and at first the plan was to do a complete remake of said videos. At some point I decided against it and used an entirely new song and concept to do this one. Like Redemption it focuses on Kenshin and Kaoru pre-Kyoto.

I tried very hard to wean myself off some of my older editing habits, especially with the blending transitions. As it turns out I had been watching Star Wars the night before, so the wipes are at least partially because of the ones in the movie. I also used more masking effects than I ever have before, though some are intentionally subtle and may be hard to spot.

The other technical note is that I did use part of the textless closing credits but decided to keep them with the black borders they originally had. I tried resizing them but it ended up looking awful, so I left them alone.

This one was very fun to do, and I'd appreciate any feedback on the new techniques I tried. Thank you!
