Music-first is a legitimate way to approach AMV editing, even if it's not as rewarding in this community.

Uhm, this is how I've all of my videos except Sakura's The Girl I've Been Telling You About. Whaddaya mean it's not as rewarding? You confuse me. I'm a Music First editor all the way.

I think he means using the anime solely because of what it looks like, not because it's appropriate to the song in any aspect but the visual. Take the KOR vid you made recently... it might be music-first as most AMVs go, but it's still tied to the anime. A video that was completely music-first, on the other hand, would possibly be more understandable to someone who knew very little about the anime used because there would be no expectations about how the characters were used. Think of comedy vids that use an anime just because it has the right footage for the concept.

Of course, I might be misunderstanding him as well.

I did Someday as a Christmas gift for the vid's musical artist, Vlasis, who is a very close friend of mine. He was absolutely tickled, and loves the video to this day.

And yeah...it was an absolutely blast to make...even though it's not that popular in the amv community, I still had a lot of fun putting it together.

I made two with music from a friend's band. They play in the Milwaukee area. I knew he was good at keyboard but I never knew he could sing. I showed them to him once when he was visiting, we both got a good laugh.
