Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Bloodstained Memory- Dizzy Samurai does Noir DAMN good!

Post by Arcane Azmadi » Mon Jun 19, 2006 9:01 pm

OK, let's try this again (I hate being completely ignored).

For those who have been desperately awaiting the next video from Dizzy Samurai studios (both of you) Bloodstained Memory is here. Despite being a brilliantly obvious idea, no-one has ever done this one before (making it pretty much 100% original), so we took it and made a bloody good AMV out of it, if we do say so ourselves. Watch it. Star rate it. Op it. If you're a Noir fan, you know you gotta.

(No false modesty this time- it just gets me ignored and I REALLY hate that!)

This is Dizzy Samurai's 7th work and I reckon it's a beauty. Yeah, it's Linkin Park, but it's one of their least overdone songs -Forgotten- to an anime which, despite being an almost perfect match, hasn't been done before: Noir. It's our most polished piece yet and the development of out FX skills continues. We appreciate any feedback and we hope you enjoy it.
Yeh, false modesty in the first post

Get over it. Look at all the other announcement threads. Not everyone can get lots of hits. 60% of people don't even get a single reply. Get over it an move on.

If you want an idea on how to get hits, here is a list of things you could try doing (and some things you've done wrong):

1. Instead of whinging about not getting any replies to your thread, take a good look at yourself. You have replied to 1, that's right 1, video announcement thread that was not your own. If you comment on peoples, they might be nice enough to comment in return.
2. Don't put things like "DAMN good!" in the title. It's pompous and will give you a much more negative reaction.
3. Don't post a second thread for the same video. This is spam.

Your whinge about not getting any replies is appalling considering your record of posts : \

I said "I reckon it's a beauty". I do. I think it's bloody good by our standards, probably our best yet. I DIDN'T actually claim that it was the best Noir AMV or should be in the top 10%- I was just saying that I thought it was good. I think I was being quite modest.

I'm sorry? Move on like how? Make a whole new AMV and put it up in the hope that THIS one WON'T be ignored? No, I think I'll just try harder if it's all the same to you.

I don't expect you to know this (or even be at all sympathetic) but I can't download AMVs. I only have a dialup connection. Last time I tried to download anything larger than 25mb it took 5 hours (which disabled our landline phone), then the connection crashed just as it was about to finish and I lost it all. So I think I can have some leniency on not commenting on other peoples' work. I'm trying to upgrade to broadband, but money is tight at the moment. Not that you should care.

Like I said, I was trying different approch in the vain hope that the thread might be noticed by someone other than an existing acquaintance of mine.
3. Don't post a second thread for the same video. This is spam.
Well I sure as hell wasn't going to drag up the old thread again. I figured I could get away with it since nobody actually NOTICED the original thread in the first place (except you apparently).

I tend to post in binges. I'm a not a forum regular, I just pop up every now and then and make a number of posts before vanishing. That's not an excuse, just an explanation.

By the way, since you saw fit to lecture me, I don't suppose youdownloaded the video?

Actually yes i did get the video, and it was fairly decent. The first verse was done well, but the second verse focused used lyrical synch that was too literal to keep the story flowing. The inverts were way too distracting, especially towards the end when you had them in cross shapes, and diagonal cuts, they were just too distracting and pointless, and detracted from the video.

The quality of your video doesn't affect my argument at all. What you did is wrong, creating another thread for the same video is against the rules, it is spam.

I 'noticed' because you said so yourself in the first post that there was a previous thread, so i searched for it. It's not all that uncommon to do : \

I wouldn't call your video "damn good", i'd call it slightly above average at the most. Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying its bad, but there's just nothing there i havn't seen before in any other Noir video, except for distracting inverts.

And the video isn't 100% original just because nobodies ever done that song/anime matchup. The video is actually very unoriginal, as it is identical to almost every other Noir video out there.

I really like LP dramas/ romances. And I LOVE this song. but still... way too literal. I liked the end when you stopped TRYING to be literal so much, but too little too late.
