And finally you understood that the video is actually damn good like I told you it was when you released it! (still on my HD)bum wrote:The mature, emotional video I called Lesbian Seagull for no good reason.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Somehow people like technoshock more, even though this video has a lot more consistency, a better plot and better synching :/

Guys. Once again. That's not what "underrated" means.Coffee 54 wrote:Still one of my favorite vids. Still very, very few downloads for a year and a half on the org.
Favorite != best. Opinion != fact.
"Underrated" would mean that its ratings do not accurately reflect its objective goodness. Since objective goodness and badness are hard to prove in a medium like this, "underrated" is a hard concept to pin down.
But it does not, for one thing, mean "my favorite is different from everyone else's favorite." The way you say that is... "my favorite is different from everyone else's favorite."

Sorry, that was the best I could come up with. I always chalk-up lower scores to differences in opinion so I'm generally pretty happy with them. As a result I could only post the vid I felt was under-downloaded. From my prespective, it's the closest thing I have to underrated as you've described it above. Plus I got to breakout the old banner again, and I just love breaking out the old banners.SarahtheBoring wrote:Guys. Once again. Sarah, what's "objective goodness"?
I think this thread is pure opinion. And my opinion is that Coffee is essentially right, since that video is subjective goodness at least to more than one person around here.
The only objective underratedness measure is a high average score for a low download rate. But as we established, that is not really objective and many people (not only the authors!) disagree with average scores.
I think it's best to be left to subjectivity. For the record, I think a lot of your videos are underrated too, irrespective of what you might think of them.

You may be thinking of someone else. Most of my videos rate just a shade over a 3, and 3 is average. I am a slightly less than average editor at best. They should rate about a 2.5 rather than 3.1. Hence, overrated. Newbies like my videos; they tend to rate high.
Yes, that's the problem. Ratings nail an objective number on a subjective work. "This cheered me up" becomes "This was a 3.4." Hence we can have discussions about "which AMVs are rated differently than their literal worth," which in my opinion is incredibly depressing.
"Which videos do you wish people paid more attention to?" or "Which video do you like that people tend to overlook?" or "Which ones do you think people don't 'get' the way you do?" would have been interesting discussions, but those questions were not asked.
"Objective goodness" is a brainfart, sorry. "Objective worth" is a better phrase, although less precise, because a bad thing can have worth if people learn from it. But you probably see what I'm getting at.
