The Chosen Two (a Fatal Frame II video)

Post by dj_ultima_the_great » Fri Jun 09, 2006 1:16 pm

I guess it's a bit out of the blue, but I made a video.

So... yeah. After a year-long hiatus, I decided to do something with my semi-internet-less days. I've studied the guides profusely, got a new editing program, and finally popped out this video. It's not quite what I imagined - read the description to see what I mean.

The plot of the video more or less follows the game's story chronologically. It's nearly effectless, save for one very short part near the end. Again, I address this in the description. There are spoilers for the game, just to warn you.

Anyway, that's all I can think of to say about it, really. Click on the picture to go to the download page. Hope you enjoy it!

Game: Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly
Music: HIM - "Rip Out the Wings of a Butterfly"
Title: The Chosen Two

This video is further proof that WMM is just another incarnation of THE MAN holding good editors down.

Seriously, I'd shower this video in praise, except that you quit the IRC channel.

inthesto: thanks. ^_^ Oddly, I had thought about making this "last video" in WMM2, but later decided that if I couldn't pull myself from it now that I'd never be able to. Oh, and sorry about IRC. I have a lot of excuses for that, but the current one is that my compy (sitting less than five feet away on the table) has no internet 'til my brother gets the router back from his ex-girlfriend.

Ileia-chan and KnX: thank you, both of you. While I don't know that this is my favorite video, it's definitely the best technically, and it had the most happy accidents with beat sync (where I only needed to tweak the clips a little and they fit just right all on their own.)

Wonder what I should do next... I've been ripping a bunch of other games just to see what I can get from them. Anyway, thanks again. ^_^

lol.

I was beginning to think you'd never get around to releasing another amv. Glad to see I was wrong.

I've never played fatal frame 2 before, but that didn't stop me from liking this. The ripped footage looked good and it had a real nice flow to it from start to end. I liked from ~2:07-2:42 especially. That was some excellent timing. Overall, this amv is just yet more proof that you don't need to dress up your amv with digital effects for it to be good--and I respect that.

I haven't seen all of your amv's, but of the couple I have viewed throughout my time on this site, I must say it's a definate improvement in so many ways. Damn fine job. If you want, I'll leave you an op later on.

Nice to see you put out another vid, Jen. And in such good quality, both in terms of footage and editing. I've been a Fatal Frame fan for a while, so it's always nice to see more FF vids being released. This one was no exception. A good song/anime combination, nice flow, and just a touch of effects made this a very enjoyable video. I'll definitely be keeping this one around. Nicely done.

jubs: thanks, love. Hopefully my next one will be even better. I have a few ideas in mind, but I haven't pulled together the footage for any of them yet.

sayde: heh. Thanks. I thought I was never going to release another AMV, too. ^_^;; Also, that was my favorite part of the video, as well. Thank Cod for an editing program that actually lets me edit whatever part of the video I want, unlike WMM2. I edited that section pretty early on from when I started the project. Oh, and if you want to leave an opinion, that'd be great. I wasn't planning on doing an op exchange for a while, due to the lack of internet on my own compy and the fact that I still owe some ops.

Aqua-chan: I think you hit the nail on the head there. I decided to make an FF video not just because I love the games, but also because there aren't a lot of them out there. When I heard that song, there was just no way I could pass up the idea. I'd like to do a video with all three games sometime in the future, but I'm still pondering what song to use. It's the same thing with the four Silent Hill games.

Thanks for all the nice comments, folks. It's good to know that I could come out with something people like even after so long away from editing.
