Unorthodox Influences

I'm curious to know where people get some of their ideas for editing, other than someone else's videos... especially if it's from hallucinogens. I know a lot of people can SAY a video is "trippy," but these people don't appeciate the full force of that word.

i've gotten a few ideas in a 1/2 dream state of falling asleep... or just flat out editing in my dreams...

it might sound pathetic really... but i dont do drugs, plus, my unconscious mind gives me enough stuff to play with....

I really just do what the music tells me to; sometimes the stag, the mammoth, and whoever else may be hanging around have clarifications about what the music is actually saying, but I don't always listen to them exactly.

Beer has proven to be a pretty shitty muse in my case... except for absinthe, which I don't think really counts. That shit is basically high grade alcohol with HALLUCINOGENIC wormwood and thujone mixed in.

I usually get ideas for effects and transitions from outright theft from other videos, either AMVs, openings and endings to animes, or music videos on MTV.

Wait a sec, I didn't answer your question. I actually get the ideas for the videos themselves while driving around in my truck. Which makes me wonder how I got the ideas for my first few videos which were pre-truck...

All of my greatest ideas for anything I have ever done have come to me in the shower. I daydream constantly (which has caused me to miss many a lecture from zoning out during class), but the shower just seems to be the place where all of the pieces fall together.

When I'm working on something, I always get my best work done at night. So, I basically try to live in the dark. I never turn my lights on; that way I'm able to simulate nighttime as often as possible. Maybe it's just a mental mindset I have, but hell, if it works, why stop?

Sorry. No drugs or alcohol for me. Ick. x_x

I get almost all my ideas from zen activities. Taking a shower, doing dishes, vacuuming, ect. I've tried to get stoned and think stuff up but it never works out and is a wasted buzz. I get ZERO amv ideas when drunk. I'm usually more focused on walking erect than what sinji is really feeling at 1:26.

I'd love to try some hallucinagens because most of my favorite art was made by people who tried them, and when theres smoke theres fire.

Stop lights... you have no idea how many times I've been honked at for still staying still when the lights are green because I'm having a mindgasm over an idea that flashbulbed itself inside my head.
